  1. if you are looking for reliability go for at least a t series. i don't know of anything more reliable in the pc world. x series if it needs to be portable but I'm guessing if its on one of those cart things that you can wheel the projector around with, the weight doesn't really matter. bigger screen might make it easier for teacher. so 15" t series?

+1, Used to work in IT and the T series were built like tanks.

  2. I would run a full scan of antivirus (ie. Microsoft Security Essentials, Avira, Avast) and antimalware (Malwarebytes, Superantispyware) software on the computers she logs into her Yahoo account from. Also, she may want to just double-check her Yahoo account settings for when you "Forget a password". It usually tells you it will send a password to your cell or another email, so just make sure there's nothing amiss there.

  3. Went to the Apple Store where I bought the phone (5th Ave in NYC). Made a Genius Bar appointment. Told the Genius that I had soaked my phone in the pool. Genius informed me that Apple normally charges $199, but has a new initiative whereby it essentially gives iDevice owners a one-time "get out of jail free" repair. Ergo, free iPhone 4 replacement. I'm sure it's a refurb (no box or anything), but free works for me. I guess I'm Steve Jobs's bitch now.

With customer service like this, there's really no way I'm buying anything computer/mobile related from any other company until Apple gives me good reason not to, like maybe making iPhone cases out of puppy skins. Maybe.

I can confirm the above...I recently had lunch with a friend who now works as a Genius at an Apple Store. He said exactly the same thing (customers get a one-time "get out of jail free card"). I wonder if that is the official lingo used at the stores.

  4. I doubt the wireless network was breached. More likely is the presence of some sort of malware on the machines. Have you already run scans with SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes? Also, full scans using antivirus (possibly two different AV programs)?

Suggestions in general (and probably stuff you may already know): keep your antivirus, OS, and browsers all updated, run anti-malware software somewhat regularly, and don't visit sketchy sites. If you really want to lock down the browser, you can run NoScript in Firefox, but I would not recommend this to a novice user. Also, Symantec is not the best AV out there. Some free alternatives are Microsoft Security Essentials, Avira, and Avast. If you have not already done so, change the passwords for other email accounts.

  5. These are still kittens, I wouldn't put milk out for adults.

From my understanding, both kittens and adults are "lactards" and may get the runs from cow's milk.

  6. We noticed a new family of kittens living under our back porch. I'd been noticing the apparent parents hanging out in our yard more lately. So today we put out a dish of milk and one of tuna.

I would be hesitant to put the milk out, because most cats are lactose intolerant. A bowl of water should do the trick. I'm sure they greatly appreciate the tuna though. :)

  7. I know the Beyer & Headroom amps they were using at the last NY meet didn't do them justice at all. But I still liked them better than the HD800's that day, and thought they had a lot of potential. I do think some balancing of upstream gear is required, but isn't it always? IIRC, Rob (Skylab) uses only OTL tube amps, so he may be getting some synergy there. I didn't hear them out of the Woo amps, but that may be a similiar case.

At their old pricepoint, they had a chance of getting into my stable some time in the future when funds become available. But unfortunately, with the recent increase it's doubtful. That may be the thinking of a lot of people who were on the fence.

I was at the last NY meet too and totally agree with you. I did get a chance to listen to them from the Woo amp (forgot which model), but I definitely preferred that setup over the Headroom/Beyer amp. It seemed to give them a bit of oomph and body that was missing in the Headroom amp.
