  1. does anyone here perhaps know anyone big into the computer modding scene? I'm specifically looking for a recommendation for a 120mm fan that is dead quiet.. I plan on running it as slow as possible as well. Currently, I'm looking at the Enermax Enlobal "magnetic-barometric" fans...

Might want to check out the fans from Scythe (S-Flex), Noctua and Nexus. Here's a good 120mm quiet fan round-up:

  2. Played the demo with a buddy on expert and it was intense. I'm still debating whether or not to pick up the full version as I've been busy lately, but I might jump on it if they reduce the price for the holidays.

  3. Well received the DT770 Con 250ohm '05s today. They're a decent deal at the current price, but would suck anywhere approaching normal street, let alone MSRP. Not burned in, but even granting improvement will be behind several sub $200 closed cans including the A900 and HFI780 (two favorites around here I know!). Certainly congested and soft on top (while somehow also being peaky), but indeed several steps above the V6 and HD280, which I suppose are the competitors at the now $108. Weird phones, 'cause if they had a lower impedance they'd make decent carrying around phones. They're fine sounding for on the go, etc. Course you add an amp and the expectations and uses change.

Have you heard the older DT770? Would you consider the new versions bass monsters?

  4. I don't get your #'s. 5x5 = 5 sets of 5 reps? What I'm most curious about is your flat bench. 7x2? 7 sets of 2 reps? 2 sets of 7 reps?

I try to keep the workouts isolated and so that by the 3rd day, the soreness is mostely gone from the first day as some of the workouts end up using the same muscles. Also, a key factor to the routine is to not mix your pull workouts with your push workouts.

Yep, 5 sets of 5 reps. I used to do 5x5 flat bench as well, but decided to experiment a bit along with my kickboxing. I used to do a similar routine as yours, but found that it was too inhibiting for other activities and my numbers were hitting a plateau. I would do a "chest" day and the next day I'd go kickboxing and my punching would suffer. I've had pretty good success with this routine.

What is the reasoning behind not mixing your pull and push workouts? I have never read that before. Any reading material?

  5. Here's my workout:

    Day 1:

    Squats (5x5)

    Power Cleans (6, 4, 4, 2)

    Incline Bench (5x5)

    Pull-ups (3x12)

    Day 2:

    Deadlifts (5x5)

    Power Snatch (6, 4, 4, 2)

    Decline Bench (5x5)

    Flat Bench (7x2)

    Day 3:

    Power Snatch (6, 4, 4, 2)

    Good-Mornings (3x8)

    Bent-over Rows (3x8)

    Flat Bench or Dips (7x2/3x12)

That's the general outline I follow, but I will sometimes move exercises around depending on how sore I am. I used to kickbox 3-4 times a week on top of lifting at the gym, but stopped for a while due to some injuries. I also throw in some ab work and cardio usually once a week.

Are you able to access a gym? Having access to free weights would really help train your upper body strength. I would recommend deadlifts, olympic lifts, and benching (I know, no bench).

  6. I was able to lose a few lbs and keep it off ever since I just cut fast food and sugared drinks out of my diet (about 4 years ago). I've been able to keep my weight pretty stable since then and work out regularly (powerlift 3 days a week, cardio here and there). I keep my diet fairly balanced a majority of the time, but also allow myself to "cheat" here and there. Once you make it a part of your lifestyle instead of a "diet" or "hitting the gym", it's like clockwork.

  7. I am so hyped up about Diablo 3. The gameplay looks to stay true to the series with a couple of new aspects (ie. destroying the surroundings). I'm tempted to go find my D2 discs now and give it a whirl again.

  8. Just got my Lambda's today with SRD-7/sb. I have it hooked up to a spare Accurian amp and it sounds pretty nice. Great details and soundstage. This is my first pair of Stax and was wondering if there are any good tips or just general information to know. Thanks! :)
