  1. forgive the ignorant question, but lets say one ordered a pico with usb dac. Could the DAC be bypassed to be used only as an amp? i.e. using an iPod or other DAP.

I'm thinking this would be great to carry around with a laptop and some IEMs at coffeeshops and what have you, but also great to be able to use an iPod with if one doesn't want to lug around a laptop.

    - you can buy it as just an amp. the dac is optional

    - both versions have an analog input on the front

  2. Because that's what major medical costs, about $50 a month (assuming no pre-existing conditions).

I think it's a bit more than $50. I'm a 24 y/o male with no history of anything and it's about $120 a month for what's considered good coverage for someone self-employed. Hard to be lower risk than that

  3. Yes I can compare to IRAQ I can do anything I want right?

Ok I see the joy in it. I fucking leave when I'm good and ready.

    Damn that feels good!

Ok I get it now except one thing if most of your members are head-fi exiles don't you think the information here is just a watered down version of what is really happening in the audio community kinda 2nd rate info.

This along with single minded members who don't embrace new members but try to bully rhem away and you have a big shit hole. I have had 1 member seriously ask me questions via pm so even your own members no which guys here are full of shit and I'm looking a quite a few of them in this thread. No not you billy and thanks by the way

I like Head-Case and I'm glad it exists....so does Tyll (HeadRoom). I get to post stuff here about new products that couldn't or shouldn't be put on Head-Fi even with a paid thread, and the feedback is always civil and valuable. So I don't think it's "2nd rate" at all. There are little things here you won't find on other forums. For every big hobby (cars, computers) there are hundreds of big forums. I think there's room for headphones to have at least two successful forums, right?

  4. I think the faceplate looks great... I really like the style. But I have to be honest... That knob is... Ummmmm... Well, it doesn't do that amp justice to be sure. Ah hell, I'll say it.. The knob is ugly. Sorry. But the rest of it really does look fantastic.

I picked that style of knob because there are a lot of complaints with small portable amps about the difficulty in turning the volume knob when a cable is plugged in next to it. This kind of knob allows it to be gripped from the front, not just the sides, making it easier to turn

  5. wikipedia says..

The ingredients are seedless grapes, apple slices, candied walnuts and low-fat vanilla yogurt. Including the walnuts, it has 330 calories. The apple slices are dipped in the preservative calcium ascorbate, a compound of calcium and vitamin C, in order to keep them crisp and prevent them losing color and flavor.

crap i forgot the grapes in my review :(

This has to be the best thing on the McDonalds menu, and also the only thing that probably won't lead to an early death. What you have is a reasonably sized small meal or snack (about 300 calories, similar to a large bowl of cereal) consisting of sliced apples which have been dipped in some preservative to keep their color and crunchiness, salted or sweetened walnuts, and a vanilla yogurt. I like to dip the apple slice in the yogurt, then stick a walnut on top of it, then eat it. It's a good combination. Also, each fruit & walnut salad is wrapped in plastic so you can stock up and keep them in your fridge. Hard to beat at $1.90 each (offer not valid in AK or HI)

Most likely McDonalds will decide this food is too healthy and remove it from their menu. Overall, I give it a 9/10. The only thing it could use is a little more walnut

  7. im still holding out hope that Linear Systems releases the new parts this year. it would still be possible to go on using the individual Toshiba FETs, matching them and bonding them together. Per amp channel I am probably already putting in 25 times as much labor compared to most op-amp based amps, with 50 parts including 12 transistors that need matching, even more on the new modules, and I have to draw the line somewhere. The Linear Systems part (the one that is available now) has been measured to be lower gain than the Toshiba so that may require some circuit changes if the overall gain isnt high enough for the negative feedback to do its job.
