actually I will use my own tubes, I have two matched EL34 SED =C= quartets, so the builder (Soren) will only check that everything is ok with some other tubes.

from the above I guess the balance/offset is still something to do after new tubes are installed right?

Nope, just drop in, and enjoy the thing.  The GG is much more tubes friendly than T2.  It took JJ 6CA7, EL34, where as my T2 spit in my face and burn my JJ-6CA7....that plasma and Arcs showed everywhere like a firework display

Hello there, new GG owner here (almost...ordered, still waiting for delivery ? ), will power a 009

Can I ask how many other GG owners out there, and if they are still happy with the toy after sometime? I don't see so many discussions about the KGHVGG, maybe is that because it's quite new? I have chosen it versus the Carbon because I like more its tubey sound.

I understand GG is an autobias design (right??) so no need to adjust bias, but I expect the usual balance/offset is needed, or will the opto servo do the magic? sorry for the stupid questions, noob here ?

The servo do it magic once dialed in.  It is a carbon with tubes output, and yes, the GG is newer

No fart with glasses( I have too) they are not sealed.  Any differences in the sound you hear ?

With small frame glasses, not much, but with larger frame, the subbass is stronger and bass overall shift toward sub and lower bass.  Tight sealing gives it a much more balanced and accurate bass.  I have not observed much on the mid to high spectrums, unless the ports are vastly huge, then it becomes muddy

  4. I just realized that I can’t chew on things when having Stax 009 On without my glasses...it farts and is annoying X_X....the first time ever that I appreciate wearing glasses

someone needs to design a glasses wear for Stax Headphones !! For those who don’t have sight problems

Thank you Whitigir, much appreciated, there is one other part i was having track down:

I need 4 Bridge rectifier, part number 512-kbu4m but it appears to be obsolete as well, would part number 512-GBU4M be okay?

The specs are pretty similar... But i didn't want to assume...

After that i just need to find the screws and wait for a few backorder items on mouser and i think that is it...

Yes, that is fine, and is what I used in mine

Thank you JoaMat i looked up that MK-168 going to order one its not very expensive...

Yes i wondered about sourcing some new parts, like for instance, the six 680uF/450v i need for the power supply, the part number on the original BOM is no longer available, could i substitute with these ones 594-MAL225957681E3: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/594-MAL225957681E3

Also for the op27, i'm not sure which ones are the right ones to get... My BOM says allied electronics and has a part number of 630-0741 but i can't seem to find that? Is there a newer part number i can use on mouse or allied?

Capacitors, this is what I am using and it is available here

    https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/647-LGM2W681MELC40

Op27, this is what I used in mine, and you can find it here

  7. @swampsong I bid you lucks on building the T2.  Not sure if those sands are authentic, but the T2 is as mind blowing as it is, and fake/bad sands, will just make somebody want to shoot their brain out by trouble shooting....I did buy my board off the guy, but turned out that @GeorgeP confirmed to me about the different variations of the boards, and what I could use.  I still can’t thanks George enough, as I almost travel down the path that you did....

Guessing that is the case because if you want to build a T2, you can with the existing boards (albeit with a higher parts cost). The only thing I could see that might be worth while updating would be the power supply, but even then.

You can dual power supply :D
