wow, pretty expensive CD-ROM, must be decent quality
  4. hi 5678 you posted some initial impressions of the differences between the OMZ and the Zapfiltered Zhaolu but i was wondering if you could elaborate on their differences a bit? thanks a lot!
  5. Probably, but you rarely drink whisky from the bottle that's -1 for potential weapon in pub fight situations
  6. it may be that i'm young and inexperienced but i'll take beer, followed by vodka, over whiskeys anyday. G&T doesn't go astray either
  7. I don't know about neutral, that's a hard one as each person has a different expectation of what "neutral" is as for the amps, well the CK2III is probably the one you want to go with if you're keen on "neutrality"/ personally i think both the K701 and DT880 are great phones but the stax has it in terms of detail and dynamics.
  8. Australian boutique beers are the best. A little pricy, UAD$20-25 for a 6 pack but just amazing. Maybe imported beers lose their flavour in transit but the local stuff from small breweries produce just the most flavoursome beers. Imports are as described above, bland. A few of my personal favourites: Blue Tongue Premium Lager - a true gourmet beer, brewed in the Hunter Valley it has a delicate, smooth, clean taste with a deep barley flavour, best had with food it ends in a slightly bitter note but is still very easy drinking. Wonderful with seafood. Little Creatures' Amber Ale - a fruity, slightly sweet almost dessert like beer is brewed in far away Fremantle of Western Australia and is a complex combination of roasted grains and fruity overtones that ends in an amber, not-so-bitter finish. A good beer to clean off the palette at the end of a good meal. James Squire's Original Amber Ale - Brewed at the legendary Malt Shovel brewery in Camperdown, Sydney is a complex and full flavoured beer that starts off with a thick creamy head that leads into a dark copper coloured body that is deep and flavoursome, almost caramel like in taste with malty undertones that finishes in a tight bitter punch. A great beer with steak.
  9. hahah i did, that's why i stopped playing computer games competitively

I reported a couple of posts, mentioning I think he may be in bed with beresford, or be beresford himself... let's hope this reaches the powers that be oh and i probably reported the original post, where he was talking about chinese cloning and going waaaaay too far slagging off chinese in general and going off some wierd taiwanese tangeant
  12. that's really cool and i appreciate the complete overkill factor of this project but what's the hammer going to be used for exactly? like, are there performance benefits?
  13. lololol no any serious counter-strike competitions are played on local area networks or internet cafes where you must turn up in person and perform where an audience can watch you. playing on the internet has too many variables, but mainly the risk of people cheating

  18. to cut a long story short i used to play counter-strike, she used to play counter-strike and that's how the story goes anyway
  19. Behold, the re-RCAed OMZ (click pics to enlarge) p.s. the discrete output board is still utilizing the powers of air dielectric and ethernet cable damping for its superior performance, but aesthetically i think the RCAs are much better and before you ask why one set of RCAs looks like they're the odd ones out, it's beacuse of the spacing off the holes in the case are too close and the third set of jacks wouldn't fit! so i left the old ones in... More pics here: http://www.a-chau.net/gallery2/v/mambo-articles/RCA/

yeah i'll certainly be frequenting both sites, probably a bit more actively here well, i guess i got the answer to my question. i thought it was some elitist club here that was meant to be kept secret, but it looks like head-fi just hasn't allowed mention of it
  21. hehe funnily enough i re-wired the RCAs last night, should take some photos when i get home from work. i think i did ok... oooooh, n_maher? i thought for a while his name was nate, based on other posts at head-fi and the n in his nick, but i find it hard to catch on when people start calling eachother by their firstnames, but lately he's been called mr vaughn and responding to that so i thought maybe n_maher isn't his initial_surname eh, well i tried to get him to build me a free M3 but it ain't happening... next time... deepak's on the job now
  22. i see... how do i get in contact with "Nate" my OMZ doesn't look half bad all cased up with its shiny black face plate and big gold plated RCAs... not sure what sonic improvements would come about but come ooooon, how can you say no to a face like this

maybe i should start cursing more often and write opinionated, one-sided and unfounded posts on gear i've never heard of to grab the attention of the mods? oh wait... there's already enough of that there =)
