K701 insanity spreading over at head-fi
The best treatment I've seen of (speaker) burn-in is here: http://www.audioholics.com/education/loudspeaker-basics/speaker-break-in-fact-or-fiction Interesting results IMO. fixed your link for ya

How can the Grado extension cable cause a buzzing?
No, I was referring to the lashes, not the leg-pulling. The leg-pulling I quite enjoyed . Everyone should act like a 15yo at least a couple times/day.

How can the Grado extension cable cause a buzzing?
...some people enjoy this type of thing but not me.

How can the Grado extension cable cause a buzzing?
Of course I'm right . If he was being facetious, then I'm an idiot and I'll subject myself to 40 lashes tonight.

How can the Grado extension cable cause a buzzing?
I don't want to start an argument on my 2nd day here, but what you say above is not right. Low freqs do not need certain minimum lengths of wire to develop or fit. You are confusing acoustic waves and electrical signals.

How can the Grado extension cable cause a buzzing?
Does the problem occur with other amps???

Creative Aurvana Live!
I saw these at Fry's and they are tacky! So are these the same as Denon D1000? The Creatives seem to use Foster's "biocellulose" drivers, while the Denons advertise "microfiber". Suspicious that they both have the same impedance and sensitivity.

What amp are you using? Maybe increased capacitance is causing the amp to oscillate?

Anyone know anything about "Websense"?
Yup, I was joking...I need to put more smilies to let on.

Nope, the Mini^3 was good on day one and it is good now, too. I like my Mini^3 but the Pico looks so damn sexy! Ken, sounds great, keep me updated.

Like I said, I lurked around here for a few months, so I've seen what you do to people who join only to sell...

Anyone know anything about "Websense"?
Ads are generally OK, as long as you are not advertising to increase the size of my "pants monster". But seriously, I am not happy about my company spying on me. I mean, if I want to spend 5 out of 10 work hours wasting time online, how is it any of their business?

Anyone know anything about "Websense"?
It seems there are a lot of sysadmins here. Our company recently got Websense, which blocks a lot of what we can see on the web. Is it also logging my posts to HC? Anything else I should know about it?

OK, OK, out of my deepest recesses I remember this one: A neutron walks into a bar and asks the bartender "How much for a beer." The bartender says "For you, no charge." EDIT: and another one...this one from David Goodstein at Caltech: All quantized units have names ending in -ons, like phot-ons, electr-ons, phon-ons, prot-ons, etc. Even quantized units of people are called pers-ons.

WTF??? Now you've offended me. I am leaving this forum. Have a great life. And anyway, I am an "applied physicist", which means I am like an engineer but I actually know how things work .

Indeed, I have arrived in some sense When is the next SB mini-meet?

I have none - 10 years of studying physics strips a person of all humor related to physics.

Hello Everybody, My name is George. I have been lurking here for a few months, and have finally decided to join at the suggestion of Guzziguy (Ken). Guzziguy, Fungi, and I live in the same town and have had a few local meets. I have been a HF member for 2-3 years, but I am tired of the same inane debates and fanboys. There is just way too much noise for any real info. A bit of personal info about me: -32 y.o. -PhD in applied physics -Cancer+chemotherapy survivor -Father to a 1.1 y.o. daughter Being a scientific-type, I am allergic to audio snake-oil and psychoacoustic phenomena (e.g. "my tomahawk sounded good at 159 hours but at 713 hours it sounded soooo much better"). I enjoy building DIY amps, having built several Mini^3, XP-amps, Pimetas, CMoys, and most recently a CKKIII. My equipment tends to be more midfi and budget conscious, but I hope I can still contribute to the community here.
