  1. Avoid leave your amp without headphone attached. Avoid change IC when your amp is on. Avoid change tubes when they hot. It's just ideal situation. I never turn-off my amp before doing headphone swap. When I do, I try to not let amp without headphone too long.
  2. NEVER tap on hot tube .. you will damage them ... the filament is almost in fusion ... For the "plastic bag" sound ... I heard that 2 times but my 5998 was cold ... after 5 min warm-up, was ok. I read LD6 with 6080 come very hot .. they use fan. My Dragon with 6080 come hot too but I can hold my hand without problem on the amp. For the hiss ... try another input tube .. it's probably a bad tube ...

  4. You have closed mind. Give them a try at least ... it's cost nothing to listen and judge yourself if you have occasion to. For homeopathy, you don't know "the mind suggestion" ... you can burn yourself with a coin if you think the coin is burning. Maybe it's just mind suggestion for cables ... maybe not. If it's mind ... the fact is .. it's better because I know I use it atm. 8-)
  5. GPH, me and FinAxe had 5 differents powercables at the last meet ... no one was interested to test them. We can't do more than that. If we bring them, it's because we think it's worth the trouble to bring them. 8-) I think a simple VeraStarr at 125$ it's not a high price and will give you as much as my 800$ (nite platinum). They don't have the same sound but they equal in performances. Bass on the VeraStarr are pretty amazing ... highs very crips, soundstage is between Nite and Master and it's very dynamic cable. 125$ on a littledot ... it's perfectly logical and not excessive. This cable is pretty flexible too ... Master is pretty ridicully stiff and hard to install. For for "vocal's" lover, the Master still the best cable I heard for that. But you don't heard them .. so you can't agree or not agree. 8-(
  6. go ahead ... if we not able to try to share impressions, not worth the trouble to write here.
  7. Hospital grade are not so expansive ... they offer a firm grip for the connectors. 5-6$ you can have one ... at 20$ you have one cryo ... it's not excessive prive to do somes tests.
  8. and you a moderator .. can't put you on ignore list .... what a moderator!

  10. Sonority = sound + aspects like (warm, cold, neutral, smooth, dynamic ... ) I probably don't use the good word ... I speak french.
  11. I tried 6 differents powercord. - VD Master 3 - VD Nite Platinum - VD Power 3 - Verastarr silver reference - and 2 differents gauge standard powercord. They all have their sonority like use different RCA cable ... I tried on 2 different dac, computer, cd player and tube amp, transistor amp. On all those stuff, I still hear similar improvements. Cheap one I tried don't offer real improvement over stock .. it's more a side move .. little bit different but overall not sure if was better or not. Another thing you can try is a PowerConditioner. I own Tripplite LC1200, it's have a positive effect on the sonority. When combined with a good powercable I am not sure I hear really a benefict ... if yes, it's small. What I hear from power cable: - Width of soundstage - Depth of soundstage - Details - Dynamics - Extention (highs/bass) - Mid's detached from the background - Mid's bass more predominant or less - Black background - Neutrality ... 8-) If you can upgrade something else for the powercable price... do that before. IMO cables are the finetuning. You have to match them with the rest of your system. If you change your system after, the cables you took are not necessary the best match anymore. My computer have the best soundcard on the market. The only way to improve it is using better interconnect, power cable, power conditionner ... It's why I put a fancy powercord on it and I am happy! 8-) If you know someone with a good powercord, ask him to have it for a couple of weeks ...

Yes Modded D5000 are bright. They very resolving .. a bit too much .. it's distracting ... not all recording are perfect. It's hurt my ears when I do long listening session.

I made a short comparaison (audition 4 track ... 45 sec each) between stock and the modded today at the lunch break at work. It's not night and day difference for sure (at least on a RSA Predator). - Less highs and bass energy for sure. Like listen speaker at 1 foot and after go at 3 foots. - More space between ears and the driver itself bring a more relaxing listening and illusion to more soundstage 3D. - Vocals are more laid back and coloration is on the bottom mid compared to the upper mid with the stock. On the lower mid, it's create an illusion of warmer and possibly more weight (a little bit). I have to complete my burn-in before do more listening .. the next time I will use my gear .. not this toy ... pardon if you have a RSA Predator ... I don't like that very much. 8-) What I can say, I like the way Markl have balanced the D5000 vs the stock version. I don't know if it's enough to stop me to love my hd650 ... will see in a couple of weeks what happend.
  16. Here's mine: I scan myself all my cover, cd and back at 1400x1400 resolution. All my collection is in FLAC of course.

I got my D5000's modded today. Friend of mine have the stock, so will be easy for me to compare. I heard the stock few day ago .. but for sure the mod are better over the stock. It's not transform the headphone in something else ... it's still denon D5000 but with fine tuning.

I like in Quebec, Canada. Just look how bad I write in English. 8-) I find interesting to try some products people seem to like. Was a WOW factor when I saw Denon was almost the level of R10 for him. I know some people write exaggerated review but I tend to trust Markl. He write review on powercords and I heard the same thing when I got mines. 95% people don't hear difference and bash this product .. it's fine .. but generally, I try to avoid bash on product I never had opportunity to hear carefully. For me, the best headphone was HD650 ... In fact, they fit my tastes. I don't know if I will prefer Denon over my HD650 .. I will know in few days ... I heard the Stock and don't found it bad .. but it's very different. They don't have the body and impact of my HD650 ... Will need time to appreciate them. I can't try all product ... but for sure, I will need to try a big Stax before take a decision to upgrade my headphone amp.
