USB audio issue
Thanks for the input guys, trying that DPC Latency Checker now, apparently I have a device driver that is behaving badly. Tracking it down is proving to be difficult though, none of the easy to disable/re-enable devices seem to be the culprit.

USB audio issue
Wondering if anyone might be able to give me some insight into a minor issue I'm having with the USB audio on my Gateway FX laptop running Windows 7. I've never had much of an issue with the Pico and USB audio, generally it's been plug and play without glitches. I get occasional noise from one thing or another, mostly at work where I haven't done much in the line of special setup and there's a ton of interference. When I got the laptop though part of my intention was to use it in conjunction with my Pico for music playback allowing me a system I can more easily move around the house so I'd like to get the best out of it I can. Generally the sound is fine but I get the occasional seemingly random click or snap which is a bit annoying. With foobar I've tried using WASAPI, ASIO4ALL and even direct sound and iTunes out of curiosity but nothing seems to overcome it. With WASAPI and ASIO4ALL I've played with various buffer lengths to no effect. I even went as far as to update my audio drivers even though I didn't figure it would help I updated my audio drivers to the proper coxenant drivers from Gateway's site. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to try next, anyone have any suggestions?

From what I can figure I had the foamie pushed back a bit too far and I don't think I was getting the best seal even though the bass seemed pretty good. My second attempt I didn't push the foam back before inserting them, just rolled it in my fingers a bit to compress it but all I got was muffled jumble. Third time I pushed them back a bit but not right to the tip, then rolled them a bit to compress them, that's seemed to do the trick.

By the way, I fiddled with the tips and insertion technique a bit more last night after we talked and I managed to lose that bit of harshness in the treble I was hearing initially, now it's just smooth and detailed, absolutely gorgeous. My wallet is really going to hurt after finally getting to hear these.

For those that have heard the demo's and then went on to buy the 13's or for those fortunate enough to hear them side by side how does the bass compare between the two, do the demo's have more, less or about the same?

Based on listening to the demo's at this very moment I don't think I'd want more bass than the 13's.

I talked with Brittany yesterday, she said they've not had anyone mention any kind of sensitivity to the materials they use plus I went back through this thread last night and found a couple of posts from people who seem to have had similar problems with universal tips as I do and they've had no issues with customs so my mind is pretty much at ease now. That's one hurdle down...

Probably, I seem to have skin sensitivity and allergies to quite a few things like some metals, soaps and fabrics. I've not paid attention to whether the tips that I'm sensitive to are all of the same basic material or not though so you may be right.

Congrats, and yes I'm jealous but it looks like I'll be getting to hear the demo's soon so I'm happy about that. It's more of an allergy type of thing, with most if not all standard non-foam tips I've tried after a short time the insides of my ears will some times get a hot burning sensation or other times an unbearable itch.

So acrylic doesn't usually cause any sensitivity? I ask because I can pretty much only tolerate foam based tips these days, all the others that I try seem to cause irritation so it's been a bit of a concern of mine when considering customs.

Thanks for the info Now, next question, has anyone had any problems with sensitivity to the material used in the customs? I know I've asked this before quite some time ago, at the time there didn't seem to be anyone with any issues but it doesn't hurt to check again.

I'm fairly certain this info has been posted somewhere but I'm not sure whether it was here or on HF but I don't feel like trying to wade through hundreds of pages looking for it. For those that have listened to the universal demo pair, what are they like physically? Do they use some sort of replaceable tip? For those that went on to buy them, was the difference significant?

Do they sell the cables separately, I have been able to find them on their site. I think it will be awhile before I'll be able to afford the JH13's but I'm interested in trying to find a cable for my Triple Fi's that will be a bit more manageable than the Null Audio cable.

Joss Whedon's Dollhouse
Firefly was a great show, I just recently watched it again with my wife who'd never seen it. On a side note, anyone else catch the Halloween episode of Castle where the intro has Nathan Fillion dressing up as his character on Firefly? That show is surprisingly good.

At least they've given this a fighting chance, I really hate when shows are canceled after 2 or 3 episodes, how are they able to gauge popularity on that?
