Every time I have listened to the HD800 I have been disappointed with the midrange and so it is not on my radar either.
Same here, both modded and stock. I like the bass though.

HPA, I enjoyed reading your impressions and I usually don't even comment, but that small snippet is something I've always wondered about as I've seen you/IpodPJ/some others mention it about amps in the past.

Heh, I ask because I've seen other people say similar things in the past. It should be easily measurable right? I'm just imagining somebody playing pink noise with each amp at max volume and guessing which one goes louder before their eyes bleed.

Glad you got it in one piece.
This modified KGBH has maybe an extra 1-2 dB of headroom/volume over my KGSS, which itself has about 2-3 dB more headroom/volume than my WES. I was expecting a more significant increase in headroom/volume over the KGSS, but it does stand above the WES by a larger amount.
I don't get this, can you explain?

What about the HE6? Don't people like powerful tube amps for them? That was my inclination for them.
And what about the Liquid Fire? Seems to be a good match for the Audeze from what I've read. (spare me the KG propaganda please)
I don't really know what people tend to like with the HE6 since I don't read those threads, but I liked it from a couple vintage SS receivers I've heard it from. I'd probably use a SS amp over a tube amp with it if I owned it but who knows.
I've never heard the LF. It was across the room from me at the last NorCal meet but I forgot to give it a listen.

I'm in the ss camp for orthos thus far. Preferred the dynahi to both the menace and ba with the lcd2.
Gonna get them out this weekend!
