  1. Separate DAC is certainly an option and probably far less risk involved as it's more clear as to what you're getting for your money. Still, for someone like myself who's been wanting to put a computer based setup together, the Transporter seems to answer it all with one, simple solution. I'll be anxious to hear what the early adopters have to say about it. Personally, I think the E500 will be my last blind plunge and that's only because I thoroughly enjoyed the E5C. From now on, I'm going to wait, read up and choose carefully....promise!
  2. That may be the case but until we actually get ahold of one and peek under the hood and give it a listen, I don't think it can be dismissed out of hand. Heck, it may not be "audiophile" but it certainl fills a need in my system and simplifies things greatly.
  3. I think some of the skepticism is that it's a bit of an unknown as far as the DAC goes. $2k for a newcomer of sorts. It's almost too good to be true for folks looking to build a computer based setup and integrate it into their regular systems. Then again, I think that's healthy to a degree. I'm torn as the argument for a SB/DAC is a good one but to have it all in one very cool box....well, if the sound is there, they've got a big hit on their hands. It seems to answer all of my prayers that's for sure.
  4. Hope I can play half that well before arthritis sets in!
  5. How long for the beta and then into full production? Best guess IF all goes as planned.
  6. Maybe I missed it but when do you expect the new modules to be ready?
  7. Zach...I'll be happy with your fine memory filling the void!
  8. Look forward to some impressons and extra pics! Especially curious about some Lavry/DA100 comparisons.
  9. Silly me about to spend $1-2K on a dac. Like a poster told me...."why bother" Check post #697 and the link given.... http://166.90.205.111/forums/showthread.php?p=2268162#post2268162
  10. Jahn...just heard your mp3 linked from the Headroom contest thread. Nice man! I can only dream about playing like that someday!

Huh?? I thought this thread was about dogs and kicking arse?!
  12. You're a lucky man GE. As for being the man of the house, well, I am but she decorates it. Speakers don't quite fit her idea of great decor. Hey, in marriage(23 years so far), it's all a matter of give and take. You also learn to pick your spots carefully. I figure I can make the "sacrifice" on speakers but when that new Hellcat is ready....well, that's MY SPOT! It's all a matter of priorities.....and being smart about things!
  13. Someone on the other board mentioned: I've not heard of this. Can anyone shed some light on what this accomplishes and who this RWA is?
  14. No need in my getting fired up over speakers again. Wife isn't budging and I have no energy for WWIII. Gonna stick with cans I guess.
  15. Just make sure you get it hooked up and going asap. Don't forget the camera!! Website pics are nice but man, let's see this baby in all its glory! Too bad we don't know anyone who has the amp as well. I can see that stack sitting on my nightstand taking FLAC files from my laptop/transit. Of course, I can also see the Lavry and DA220 MKII as well.
  16. In any event, it appears the DA100 is a great performer in it's own right. Can't wait for your impressions. I specifically asked about the DA100 so I was a bit disappointed that he side stepped that unit and focused more on the DA220. Guess he's doing what he needs to in order to move the gear he has on hand. As he still doesn't have the DA100 yet, I guess it wasn't a priority for him. Yet, I think when you get yours and can give it a good listen, you can make some comparisons with the Lavry and since IronDreamer has the Stello DA220 and also owned the Lavry, we should be able to get a fair idea of the pecking order.

Could the problem be my dog? I mean he's not such a manly type dog. Maybe that's my problem?

Well, I'm just a scrawny white kid so folks just seem to want to kick my butt all the time. Guess I'm just not a likeable guy!
  20. Just got an email from a Stello distributor with the following "clarification" on the differences between the MKI and MKII plus some info on the DA100: He also said:

They look like something a kid would put on a Barbi doll. Fugly suckers if you ask me. I think I'm passing regardless of how they sound. Wear those things on the street and someone will kick my butt!
  22. I thought he had the HE90 from that last batch? Hmm......now I'm really curious.
  23. I suspect an ES-1? Come on, if we're gonna help fund it, you at least can tell us what you're getting so we can live vicariously through you.
  24. Do tell! Shoot me a PM with the details on the dac, cables, etc....
  25. Well, I checked with hirezaudiovideo.com and they will have the "stack" in a couple of weeks so I won't need to sweat the customs end. Curious about warranty and repairs and who I'd need to return the item to? Wonder if it's hirez or it goes straight back to the manufacturer in Korea? I've been on the fence about the MKII and Lavry plus this little stack and the BelCanto DAC3 but can't seem to make up my mind. The temptation to go balanced has been with me for some time so I'm pretty sure I'd end up taking the plunge if I spent the dough and got the MKII. GE, be sure to post some impressions when you're ready. Very interested in hearing about this dac.
