ATH-ESW9 Repair?

Featured Replies

Yes, a glob of epoxy will fix that, and probably make it stronger than it was to begin with. But, use a 24 hour epoxy -- not one of those quick set types. Also, don't be tempted by the Gorilla glue as it expands as it cures. Finally, get a small clamp to hold it while it sets -- it will need to be held firmly for a long time (hours) to make a good bond.

Sorry. Got stuck in an alternate dimension for a while.

x2. A good quality, slow set epoxy would be my glue of choice if you should need to go adhesive route. Avoid the quickie stuff for this. I don't think I would use a filled epoxy, which may let JB Weld out. I don't quite remember its consistency.

An update. I sent these in to AT USA for repair. Didn't hear anything for a couple of days. So I left a voicemail with their service department (I had requested an estimate because I did not have receipt for warranty repair). A woman left a voicemail for me shortly thereafter stating that the phones were repaired free of charge and were on their way back. I don't have them yet, but will update once I've received them. So far, though, AT USA is getting two opposable thumbs up.

Yep, as Pars stated, mine have done the same thing a couple of times now. I need to get some epoxy but in the past I've used superglue and it will hold for several months. Make shure to only apply glue to the stationary part of the plastic moulding, that way they will still be able to rotate to flat for storage. I used a vice-grips pliers to clamp them while drying, clamping inside-outside to hold the pieces together.

But with Monkey's latest update, I may need to contact AT and see if they can help. I'm the second owner so I wasn't hopeful, but now, maybe.

As the third owner of my set, I hear you. ;)

In looking at the Order Confirmation, I note that AT "replaced both joint cases." Only one was broken, so it strikes me that maybe this was a known issue repair. I was charged nothing, and the Service Performed section indicates "Non-Warranty."

You can send them in for an estimate, which costs 30 bucks. If you go ahead with the repairs, then you don't pay the $30. Anyway, the treated me right, so I'm going to send a nice email.
