I've read the whole thing twice. The weird thing is that, for some strange reason, I felt compelled to start reading from the beginning again right after I finished for the second time. IT took some time for me to desist....

The first 3 books of the dark tower series got me through basic training.

Wait, you had time to read in basic training?

Sure did. I kept a book on me at all times. There was a lot of time spent waiting for things to happen, plus, I didn't really need to devote any time at all to learning what they were teaching, as my IQ was above 85.

I am, of course, deeply disappointed that the series is not based on this:
