Not that it was great or anything, but if you were interested in last nights doc, but missed it, it's now streaming.

Not so great to a person like yourself reading the bio. Somewhat a rushed greatest hits run through, with not always the most interesting take given, but as its even shorter than a Kardashian marriage, why not moar Steve?

He's WAY past that.

I get that he was a brilliant leader, had a great sense of the market, and was a perfectionist, but he was still a businessman. He was no Mother Teresa, and even she was just a blip on the radar right after Lady Diana's death, which was a sin in my book.

Mother Teresa got robbed, no doubt, but to be fair Mother Teresa wasn't even remotely Mother Teresa. In fact several of the most interesting criticisms of both Jobs and her are in the larger picture (Jobs and Apple with Foxconn working conditions and wages, Teresa and her influence on local and international family planning and gender issues, thus continued poverty).

The one thing I'm most confused with on the Jobs backlash though, is the seemingly misunderstanding that Jobs was a businessman. Who doesn't get that? He's a businessman that touched their lives through business and maybe was an inspiration (design, on compromise, etc.). This might be most clearly illustrated with The Onion concise obit. Why not morn someone no matter their path to you? Irrespective of how they spent their time in India? wink.png

^^^ Indeed. We all have our demons.

Jobs was an extraordinary influence on all our lives ... mostly in a possitive way, IMHO.

Bill Gates' quote, "I wish I had his taste," is telling. We Americans have produced an enormous amount of tasteless shit in the last century.

Jobs showed that quality, both in performance and style, can be adopted by the popular culture. I wish that there were more like him in that way.

That he could be an asshole, meh, so can I.

Fair enough, guys. I certainly appreciate his contributions to society (except for his love of proprietary hardware and software), but I will never understand those who would want to see an interview of him in a theatertongue.png

^ Clearly "they" think there will be enough folks interested to meet the ends meet.
