  3. I've done some back tracking and think I might have his address, or an address of a computer he either personally used or mirrored off of. Since it's speculative, I think it's best if I not post the address here. Needless to say, I'm going after this fucker using all legal means. Then audiogon is next?
  4. Just received this email from a person having the name Subramankn: ///Start//// TO: Cherrybomb It now appears that there are 4 (more?) of us who were scammed. If you reply to me, we can get email group together to figure out what to do next. I have the emails of the other 3. Thanks, Ken ///End//// Looks like this guy made a killing.
  5. You are very lucky you didn't fall into this guy's trap. Sounds to me like I would have been hoodwinked even if I had taken all precautions.
  6. I'm not too proud to accept charity. Seriously, an honest transaction with a guy who does not rob me is all I'm looking for.
  7. I am done with Audiogon. From now on I will either buy new or used from you guys. My plan all along was to get the Stax system and then just sit back and enjoy my music collection for awhile, while also selling some extraneous gear that I no longer use. You can see over at the other forum that I had already started the process of selling off some stuff. Now, I don't know what I'll do. Out of fairness to my wife I really should wait a month or two before purchasing anything else. After that I'll either buy the Koss 950s or, finances permitting, go all in and buy some Omegas either new or from a known source. If any established HCers have a pair of 950s or Omegas they want to move, PM me.
  8. I say above that I think Audiogon will just tell me "tough shit." Yes, it was my personal bank. I agree that my judgement here was poor. Heard of "beer goggles?" This was "stat goggles." A very, very expensive lesson has been learned.
  9. You are correct. I used to live there, so you'd think I'd know how to spell it.
  10. Yeah, lets move on to some good stuff. K340 is awesomer news.
  11. I'm thinking you work for google.
  12. Ahh. . . there it is. For the benefit of others who will read this thread later on, the contact information for audiogon is [email protected] I'll be sending them an email tonight or tomorrow. If anyone else has been scammed using audiogon, please chime in; there is strength in numbers.
  13. Don't get my wrong - I'm plenty pissed. I'd like to strangle the guy with my bare hands. But looking at it objectively, I think n_mahler's reaction is pretty dead on: who the fuck sends money to some random guy in Europe? I guess the answer to that is "this asshole right here. . . the clown calling himself cherrybomb." Seriously, I think you guys are being generous, and I appreciate it. If I were on the other side of the discussion I don't know that I'd be so generous. I've emailed the other guy who got scammed, but there has been no response and that was about 8 hours ago. I've also fished around on the audiogon website for their contact information, but found none. I'd like to write a letter to them and let them know what happened. I imagine their response will be "tough shit." Still, they should know that this shit happens and that its not cool.
  14. Wire transfer. But yes, as described above, I'm an idiot. The bank is recalling the transfer, but assuming the guy paid attention in crook school and knows to take the money out of his bank account as soon as it arrives, I'm screwed. And yes, given my actions, I probably have it coming. I guess if enough people have been similarly scammed while using audiogon, and if a fair argument could be made that audiogon knew or should have known that folks were getting scammed, then maybe a class action could be brought. But honestly, I'm not a litigator and have no clue. Seems highly doubtful.
  15. I'm hoping the guys suffers a long, drawn out case of ass cancer. I'd also like the cancer to go into remission a few times so he gets his hopes up, and then his heart broken, when the cancer returns. Hey, and so long as we are hoping, maybe fate will see to it that this guy suffers a few violent anal rapings by a pack of spiked-dick werewolves. My, my. . . sounds like someone is bitter.
  16. No, it's not chump change. The wife is not going to be happy. I feel like a moron for letting it happen to me - who purchases $2K worth of gear from a seller with no feedback? I felt like the ebay reference he provided was spot on since all the purchases and sells were for CDs and other audio-related items. Still, I should have PMed that particular eBay seller to confirm that it was the same person as the audiogon seller (I now assume they are in fact different individuals). The honest truth is that I did not heed any of warning signs, or take proper precautions, because I was focused on making sure I was the person who scored that awesome gear. To make up for my stupidity, and the loss of funds, I'll probably sell of few pieces of my favorite gear. This should remind me not to be an asshat next time.
  17. Exactly as Voltron described. The guy initially had 0 feedback. As soon as I saw negative feedback this morning, and the description for the negative feedback, my stomach jumped and I immediately called the bank to see what could be done. Maybe I'll get some of it back. Probably not, though.
  18. It appears I spent $2K being scammed on this audiogon auction: STAX omega sr 007 mk1 For Sale | AudiogoN I certainly feel like a winner right now.
