Still have the VTG. I have never heard the L3000, but I got anice deal on all the parts, so jumped on it. Even if I hated them, I could have gotten my money back, so I figured there was no risk.

thanks aerius. Yeah I listened to the w100 drivers last night, and man.. I know why I got rid of that headphone. Sibilant and just ugh. These drivers take my favorite part of the VTG and improve the bass, soundstage, and imaging.

Ok here it is!!! The project is/was... ATH-W3000 ATH-W100 shell with L3000 drivers, L3000 pads, and a Mogami recable. Pictures: The L3000 drivers right out fo the box from tkam. (Thanks Todd!!) I brought my tube amp home this weekend for some tuning, so my setup is not complete right now. I'm impressed though, listening out of my Zen line out to crappy cables and into the amp.
