Jebus, I forgot to tell you, 'stretch: the Dave Gahan (or his wife, technically) has an apartment(s) in my building!
EDIT: and you aren't screwing around with the 80s vinyl tonight. I have the Yaz(oo) vinyl somewhere at my parents' place.
Just in case anyone was wondering, despite appearances to the contrary on teh interwebz at JH Audio, "Deadwood" is very dark brown; whereas, "black" is, well, black.
Mind you, I do not care what color these things come in.
I guess I have similar questions:
1) What about Toslink? I generally see negative comments about it but I don't really understand why.
2) On a given DAC, is the SQ from the various inputs (setting aside the cable quality for the moment). For example, does coax in generally have some advantageous implentation over toslink that will make it a preferred method of connecting?
I agree that those wood cups make everything a bit 650er, but the 3 blobs effect is something I always noticed with the 650, even when I had a stock pair.
They arrived today. Listening now. Nice phones. Not as bassy as the HD650, which is both good and bad. I think the lighter bass makes the soundstage less "blobby," but it also make the 600 a bit less fun at first blush. I think the 600 sounds a bit more like the HD800 than the 650 does.
But certainly a nice sound and a lot more burn-in required until my opinions match exactly those of everyone else.
I've got some JB Weld. Whaddya think?
The hardest part will be clamping it because it's small and needs to be held at an odd angle.
I'm going to try AT first.
