Help out a close friend of mine
Thanks a lot guys! They do some exceptional work. They have some really nice custom stuff in his parents house. And he recently made himself a TV cabinet for his new house out of mahogany (I believe) that is just gorgeous.

Help out a close friend of mine
One of my close friend's companies was nominated for a "Green Log Award". You can go to go greenlogawards.com/nominees-2008/cabinetry/ (to vote) And check out Young's Furniture. They're a really great group of people. I've known him for ten years and him and his dad have put a lot of work into the company. He's a pretty selfless guy, and they've done countless things to give back to the community. Just as an example- one of their older employees was diagnosed with throat cancer and the founder of the company (my friend's dad) is continuing to provide for him and his family and has promised to help out financially long after this gentleman has passed on. This sort of generosity is pretty much seen through their entire family. So if you could take a second to vote I'd appreciate it, thanks guys

The Headcase Stax thread
Yeah doubtful the Blue Hawaii will be as cheap as the original Headamp. I've been spec'ing mine and it's adding up to quite a bit. The WooAudio GES might be the amp to get for best bang for the buck. Keep in mind I have never heard one. pabbi1 had similar problems with his McAlister.

Markl Mods
And some how there is a fervor of fanboyism at Headfi where people feel the need to defend their gear to the death. Further fueling these fotm syndromes. So when someone who writes lengthy reviews on gear suddenly claims a headphone mod can exceed the performance of a $5000 headphone you get people like ipodpj claiming the Denons are the most resolving headphone ever, capable of resolving nuances like snake oil Virtual Dynamics cables, loopy tweaks, etc. And on it goes...

The Headcase Stax thread
Up until that point I hadn't heard anything better than them. But I sold them because I picked up an AKG K1000.

I wish I was joking. I'd rather listen to the K701

Markl Mods
But keep in mind markl mostly listens to rock at high volumes which might be another factor why he preferred his modded D5000. Both times I heard different R10s I preferred them at very low volume opposed to turning them up.

The Headcase Stax thread
Perhaps the law of diminishing returns applies to the modern Lambda line, but to me the SR-404 and SR-007 aren't even in the same league. They're not even playing the same sport, the SR-404 is a very mediocre to poor headphone.

Maggie 1.6QR second audition
I'd love to hear the MMG, they are pretty damn cheap What are the mods to make the 1.6 better?

Maggie 1.6QR second audition
The latest version of the Maggie 1.6 was powered with an ARC tube amp and Conrad Johnson preamp with my North Star M192 (Cary CDP used as transport). First time hearing these speakers I was a bit unimpressed; they were bass light and had an over emphasized top end. I'm guessing this tube system helped tame them, and IMO for $1600 these are probably the best bargain I've heard so far. Setup in a well dampened room, pulled out about 4 feet from the back walls. Handled Opeth and Iron Maiden surprisingly well, something I couldn't say the first time I heard them

Holy. fucking. shit.
It was always known that Ghosts I-IV would be released on vinyl. It's been in the Ghosts FAQ since release (http://ghosts.nin.com/main/faq). But it's not the heavy weight vinyl that comes with the box set. Speaking of which, it should be shipping in roughly a month

So what makes a ramdisk strictly memory? Installing an OS on it and using it for storage wouldn't make it "storage"?
