  1. Because the output starts to slope down around 1KHz maybe
  2. Nods low impedance, low efficiency is the killer here. OTL typically is high output impedance and current limited compared to transformer models. Just means a low dampening factor and potential to not be able to play at high levels. Key here is typical, not guaranteed. I mean Duggeh's? ortho measured in at 98%? THD and he likes it =)
  3. Well ya A can that is always fun to listen to will by default be shitty The O2 is fun on fun music, sad on sad music, light on light music... so not shitty because not always fun.
  4. More fun than 650, hmmm... Stax O2 Beyer 990/600 maybe, not AKG. Not the last word on resolution but some Denon D5000 maybe.
  5. To be clear, its what sat between the pins that smoked, poor George
  6. On the smoke, Justin has reassured me that its likely cosmetic and that I should test a few points to be sure. Phew
  7. While my O2 was off getting a new cable and pads installed, HighEnd Workshop in the UK did a fantasic by the way and cost less than Yamasinc including shipping, I started looking at dynamics/orthos that have come out since 2006. Now with the O2 back on my head I just don't see a rival coming along I started with the Concerto, ya ya I know, and the HE-5LE. Nice for a dynamic rig but no. Brought in the Senn 800... no. Beta22... no. Still holding out for the LCD-2, maybe T1 but whats the joke? Off topic, something finally made its way to between two pins on one of the output transistors of my KGSS and burnt/arced for a while and left a nice ding in the top layer of the PCB. I've cleaned it with alcohol, and the rest of the amp got vacuumed/dusted to clear out the rest of the damn cat hair... Anyway arcing gone, hole clean, no smoke, perfect sound... good to go?

    Audeze LCD-2

Got word they were getting payment from June 8th people last week. Given the changes I'm kind of glad to be back of the bus on this one. Wait long enough might even get a chassis that looks like my O2... true story

Last I heard they were filling late May early June right now.

A few LCD fanbois need to No way a GL is lacking to drive such an easy load. Probably the same fanboi that suggested you could build a b22/s22 that wasn't capable either.

I know pretty much everyone thought leather headband was a no brainer but I don't think they ever agreed. Felt covered foam is the current model. And what colour is gas? Got my Nugget B22 today, thinking it might mate well with the LCD-2 if I ever get the call. Killer control, dead quiet but not a whole lot of umph down low... so far.

Think they were referring to the AKG 200mW cap.

The efficiency given is conservative. Tyll measured 110mV for 90dB ~.25mW.

Wow, just wow

Wouldn't expect any less from Team Cavalli Audio, Team Ortho. Personally I'm on Team What Have You Done For Me Lately KG as far as I'm concerned delivers consistently and makes himself available to anyone with questions. And like most people here on HC, doesn't pull punches even when critiquing himself

  19. First your suggestions to yourself... um no. In order of price for your goal... AT M50 Denon D2000 Senn 650 The Shure full size cans are bright forward cans, the AKG not bassy or impactful, the Senn 600 is also not a bass can and can sound withdrawn without a good amp. The Shure SE line is also something to consider if these are commute cans or you don't mind the whole IEM thing based on your goals.
  20. Nods I also found the 650 more natural sounding, think a better work might be transparent and engaging compared to the more neutral but less transparent 600.
  21. Nods, Senn 650 is a nice natural can but not neutral or transparent. It is my favourite dynamic to date though.
  22. Blink blink... that was easy
  23. Oh that second photo with 88 opamps is just pure awesome... avatar... for faceplaming.
  24. Doesn't help that Stax amps get talked down every time someone talks about the O2.
