Just got back from La Boheme at the Lyric Opera in Chicago. We had originally purchased tickets for this because Angela Gheorghiu was set to play Mimi. Both the wife and I adore her voice and really wanted to see her. Well, apparently she is quite the Diva - missing rehearsals, leaving town in violation of her contract. So the Lyric fired her. Her stand-in took the spot. She wasn't bad but was not Gheorghiu. But I really don't blame the Lyric either. And hell, any night at the Lyric Opera is a pretty good night.

Just finished watching the race. Several awesome drivers combined with multiple wankers and pissing down rain makes for a fun viewing experience. Vettel has been given a 10 spot penalty in the next race for crashing into Webber. Webber threw up in his helmet (mmmmmm!!) and Liuzzi thought he had a point but it was taken away because he's a big cheatin' bastard for passing Sutil under waved yellow flags. Viva F1!

Excellent Italian meal tonight at a local place named Cafe Borgia. Crostini with a variety of spreads - olive tapinade, roasted red pepper pesto, salsa cruda and one other. That was followed by cold plates of artichoke Roman style and roasted peppers. For mains the wife had a rigatoni with smoked chicken, dried tomatoes, mushrooms & roasted garlic in a white wine sauce. I had rigatoni Sardi with red sauce and sausage. We shared a plate of grilled veggies also - asparagus, eggplant, zucchini, tomato, green & red pepper all in a balsamic/honey sauce. Desert was fig & macadamia cheesecake for her, baked pear torte for me, with a double espresso. I could die one happy SOB after that meal.

Sat here like a mute idiot. Oh, I do that all the time. Sorry.
