And now what did you do TODAY?
Xwhatevernumberwe'reupto. Jacob, glad you're feeling better. Today, I got off work on time. This is perhaps the first time in many months I've made it out on a Friday at 5. I feel like a kid playing hooky from school.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Nice hiking. Were you at Jonathan Dickinson park again? Once you get out of Delray and Boynton, there are long stretches with no traffic lights and it's easier to just go. I was impressed with me as well until I just tried to stand up. It wasn't pretty.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Biked along A1A to Palm Beach and back, approx. 40 miles, with the last ten being totally annoying, mostly because my feet were hating being clipped in at that point. I wasn't experiencing pain or numbness (learned to point my toes for a bit to stop that), but I just wanted to move them around and it was really making me nuts. On the good side of things, I haven't been that far before, and other than the feet thing, it wasn't hard, though my average speed was only 14.2, though I have to say, the wind was fairly brutal for about 1/4 of the ride, and when not, I was going about 16 mph. Also, I learned how reach and drink from my water bottle while riding, which had been a fear of mine. All and all, it was a beautiful ride. Paused to snap a pic:

And now what did you do TODAY?
John, it would be cheaper, and probably better practice, to get a trainer for your bike. If you like real pain, I saw a Airdyne bike on Craig's list for a couple hundred. That thing killed me in two minutes flat.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Maybe not obese, but I could lose 30 lbs and still be considered plump, which is what I'd like to be, since I'm not into being skinny. Due to the Crossfit I'd been doing, I'm still fairly strong (still go to the gym twice a week), but I put on some poundage over the last six months. I think the biking, along with getting back to eating right, will help.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Mike dropped us both. He's actually in shape. We didn't ride many miles, and did an easy, fairly fast five miles heading out, but the wind on the way back just killed me. Mike was trying to be nice and let me draft, but I couldn't keep up. I also gotta remember to eat a better breakfast. John was behind us both, but his bike weights 6000 lbs. After I drove home, I did another easy seven-mile loop, but this morning was a wake-up call. I'm old, fat, and need to do more than weekend rides.

And now what did you do TODAY?
This is my situation as well, and not likely to change anytime soon. Maybe it's because I grew up with steel bikes, I like the way steel looks over the carbon or aluminum bikes I've seen, which was definitely a factor when I was thinking of plopping down a few grand. I was also looking for a bike for recreational riding, light touring, and fast commuting with comfort being as important as speed. Steel fits. The ability to get a custom frame within my budget sealed the deal for steel. Again, I couldn't be happier. I only wish I had more time during the week to ride outside. I set up a trainer in my house, which I'll need to be using if I'm going to get ready for the 165 miler in the Fall, but it's just not the same. Dinny, congrats on the closing!

And now what did you do TODAY?
Though I have a fuzzy memory of reading it in a thread, I don't really remember. What kind of bike do you have? I knew I wanted a steel bike, even though folks I know who are into cycling down here thought I was nuts for not going carbon. I don't regret it. If I wanted to spend double what I did, I might have considered titanium, but that just seemed nuts for my needs. Oh, and my brother, kids, dog and house were all fine. The tornados and hale missed their part of Dallas.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Had a good day at work, and got out just in time to ride my bike about ten miles. It was nice. Still a bit worried about my brother and the kids in Dallas. He hasn't responded to my texts or my mom's calls.

I know it's been in the works, but wow, Ken. Certainly wish Stacy the best, and most definitely sending good thoughts your way.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Nate, I was looking at iphone apps before I bought the Garmin, and my main concern that since I want to start doing distance rides, the apps would eat up my battery long before I finished. John was using his iphone today and some app I don't remember. I think he said he ate his battery on a long hike he did yesterday. Although I'm not there yet, to train for this 165-mile thing I'm doing in the Fall, I'm going to need to be putting in some multi-hour rides.
