  1. The elastic on the headband of my SR007 Mk1 has worn out. My google search skills haven't been able to locate a replacement part, I can only find the Mk11 version. Any tips for sourcing this part? Or will the Mk11 version fit? btw - haven't logged in here for years, nice to see there is still a community going.
  2. What is that hooked shape tool used here, or what is a good substitute for it?
  3. You'll adapt!! I use one of these on my M4 for exposure settings: https://www.cameraquest.com/voivcmet2.htm Nothing wrong with an M6 either. There are a few options in the bodies regarding viewfinder magnification and ttl metering, so do your research. Black is sexier than chrome imho.
  4. I just sold an R3A on ebay to a dude in South Korea!! Not you, I hope. My R3A was okay, but didn't come any where close to the user enjoyability and build quality of my Leica M4 body. I suggest you get a refund and stump up for a nice user M2, M3 or M4. You'll need some form of a light meter or a sixth sense for guessing your exposure settings, but it's worth it imho.
  5. It looks like it needs an adjustment. Rangefinders often need adjusting every couple of years or so. Not a terribly expensive repair. What camera body is it?
  6. That was my final take of the incident: it was a love story.
  7. Around home time at work today I get a call from a friend to tell me he saw a couple having sex on my car in the car park. I go down to investigate: my friend was correct. They appeared to be a homeless couple, and heavily intoxicated from sniffing tolulene. I thought I'd best be diplomatic. I told them I was leaving in the car in five minutes time, so they'd be better off finding somewhere else. The guy gave me a wink and told me he'd be finished in two minutes.

I can't help but think that Clarkson may have engineered this. Clarkson reported the incident to BBC management, not the producer he assaulted. The million signatures on the petition in his support and all the publicity over this incident can only increase his commercial value to rival broadcasters. His contract was running out.
  9. Very few people would recognize this to be an interchangeable lens kit. It looks like a point & shoot but offers you DSLR functionality and a quite decent 70-200 f2.8 equivalent telephoto zoom. Always a risk I suppose it may get recognized.
  10. Pentax Q body of some sort with a matching Pentax 06 lens. Small form factor, DSLR menus and functions, equivalent 35mm focal length to 70-200 zoom. For me, this replaced my Canon S95 for your type of uses.

"More than 600,000 people have signed an online petition (started by UK political blogger Guido Fawkes) to return Jeremy Clarkson to Top Gear. Clarkson has been suspended following claims he hit a producer on the program. The BBC has pulled two of the final three episodes of Top Gear in the current series in response to the suspension of Clarkson. But the BBC has not only lost revenue from the episodes being pulled, it has opened itself up to compensation claims from foreign broadcasters for non-performance of a program-supply contract. But is the suspension a case of the BBC shooting itself in the foot (and in the cash register)? UK reports say Clarkson is out of contract at the end of this month, so the suspension won’t mean a thing. In fact, The Guardianand other media outlets say the BBC had been hoping to wrap up new three-year contracts with the program’s hosts -- Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Those talks are now reported to be off. The fate of the third episode of the current series is up in the air and the BBC is now trying to fill the gap of the two dropped episodes by offering broadcasters fresh (but old) Top Gear material. Both ITV and Channel 4 have tried to poach Clarkson from the BBC in the past and his departure would spark a huge bidding war among the corporation’s UK commercial rivals, including pay-TV groups such as Sky, Virgin and BT. Top Gear is shown in 214 “territories” (not necessarily countries in all cases). It has an estimated 350 million viewers around the world. The BBC arm, BBC Worldwide, makes (reported by UK media) 50 million pounds a year from the program from revenues estimated at 150 million pounds. The fastest growing area of income for the BBC has been the live shows. The next of these is a now sold-out Top Gear Live event in Stavanger in Norway, due to be held on March 27 and 28. If Clarkson is not available, it will not be what has been advertised. The live tour, which is a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and a company called Brand Events, will have to be cancelled if Clarkson isn’t there (and contracted), costing BBC Worldwide an unknown amount of money. "
  12. Anybody here contribute stock photos online for royalties? iStock just accepted my application. Any tips or feedback? At the very least, I'm thinking I can now deduct my camera gear on my tax returns.
