  1. The elastic on the headband of my SR007 Mk1 has worn out. My google search skills haven't been able to locate a replacement part, I can only find the Mk11 version. Any tips for sourcing this part? Or will the Mk11 version fit? btw - haven't logged in here for years, nice to see there is still a community going.
  2. What is that hooked shape tool used here, or what is a good substitute for it?
  3. You'll adapt!! I use one of these on my M4 for exposure settings: https://www.cameraquest.com/voivcmet2.htm Nothing wrong with an M6 either. There are a few options in the bodies regarding viewfinder magnification and ttl metering, so do your research. Black is sexier than chrome imho.
  4. I just sold an R3A on ebay to a dude in South Korea!! Not you, I hope. My R3A was okay, but didn't come any where close to the user enjoyability and build quality of my Leica M4 body. I suggest you get a refund and stump up for a nice user M2, M3 or M4. You'll need some form of a light meter or a sixth sense for guessing your exposure settings, but it's worth it imho.
  5. It looks like it needs an adjustment. Rangefinders often need adjusting every couple of years or so. Not a terribly expensive repair. What camera body is it?
  6. That was my final take of the incident: it was a love story.
  7. Around home time at work today I get a call from a friend to tell me he saw a couple having sex on my car in the car park. I go down to investigate: my friend was correct. They appeared to be a homeless couple, and heavily intoxicated from sniffing tolulene. I thought I'd best be diplomatic. I told them I was leaving in the car in five minutes time, so they'd be better off finding somewhere else. The guy gave me a wink and told me he'd be finished in two minutes.

I can't help but think that Clarkson may have engineered this. Clarkson reported the incident to BBC management, not the producer he assaulted. The million signatures on the petition in his support and all the publicity over this incident can only increase his commercial value to rival broadcasters. His contract was running out.
  9. Very few people would recognize this to be an interchangeable lens kit. It looks like a point & shoot but offers you DSLR functionality and a quite decent 70-200 f2.8 equivalent telephoto zoom. Always a risk I suppose it may get recognized.
  10. Pentax Q body of some sort with a matching Pentax 06 lens. Small form factor, DSLR menus and functions, equivalent 35mm focal length to 70-200 zoom. For me, this replaced my Canon S95 for your type of uses.

    Top Gear

"More than 600,000 people have signed an online petition (started by UK political blogger Guido Fawkes) to return Jeremy Clarkson to Top Gear. Clarkson has been suspended following claims he hit a producer on the program. The BBC has pulled two of the final three episodes of Top Gear in the current series in response to the suspension of Clarkson. But the BBC has not only lost revenue from the episodes being pulled, it has opened itself up to compensation claims from foreign broadcasters for non-performance of a program-supply contract. But is the suspension a case of the BBC shooting itself in the foot (and in the cash register)? UK reports say Clarkson is out of contract at the end of this month, so the suspension won’t mean a thing. In fact, The Guardianand other media outlets say the BBC had been hoping to wrap up new three-year contracts with the program’s hosts -- Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Those talks are now reported to be off. The fate of the third episode of the current series is up in the air and the BBC is now trying to fill the gap of the two dropped episodes by offering broadcasters fresh (but old) Top Gear material. Both ITV and Channel 4 have tried to poach Clarkson from the BBC in the past and his departure would spark a huge bidding war among the corporation’s UK commercial rivals, including pay-TV groups such as Sky, Virgin and BT. Top Gear is shown in 214 “territories” (not necessarily countries in all cases). It has an estimated 350 million viewers around the world. The BBC arm, BBC Worldwide, makes (reported by UK media) 50 million pounds a year from the program from revenues estimated at 150 million pounds. The fastest growing area of income for the BBC has been the live shows. The next of these is a now sold-out Top Gear Live event in Stavanger in Norway, due to be held on March 27 and 28. If Clarkson is not available, it will not be what has been advertised. The live tour, which is a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and a company called Brand Events, will have to be cancelled if Clarkson isn’t there (and contracted), costing BBC Worldwide an unknown amount of money. 12. Anybody here contribute stock photos online for royalties? iStock just accepted my application. Any tips or feedback? At the very least, I'm thinking I can now deduct my camera gear on my tax returns.
  13. Maybe, but he wasn't the first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv1bM0pp_o4
  14. I've spent the last 3 years trying to persuade myself that I don't need a FF DSLR. The itch just wouldn't go away. I've just picked up a good deal on some second hand gear. A D700 body and a Nikon 50mm f1.4 g. So far, I'm very impressed by this combo. I'm now looking to expand my lenses. From KEH I've picked up a Tokina 28-70 f2.6/2.8 and a Nikon 105 f2 DC. I'm considering my options for a wide angle prime. I'm thinking a 24mm f2.8D but have read mixed reviews. I'm also attracted to the Sigma 35mm Art. Any recommendations?
  15. Someone who appears to have aged well, musically speaking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zrr5LmC2p1A
  16. Anybody with any experience with a Tamron SP 17 - 35mm f/2.8-4.0 Di? I'm intending to use it on a D700 body. I've read some good things about it.
  17. I quite like the two photos you've posted. Care to share the lens & body you used? Anything special about the lighting?
  18. I have the Q7 and the original Q bodies. I've picked up the Q 01, 02, 06 and 03 lenses. It's a fun system, but not for every one. The 01 and 06 lenses are good, the 02 is a bit meh, the 03 is somewhat toy like. The bodies are good - you have pretty much the same functionality as a K series DSLR body. It's a poor low light performer, but it's appeal to me is an interchangeable lens system that lets you fit a body, a nifty fifty and two zooms into one pocket of your cargo pants. For small form factor, it replaced my Canon s95. I prefer the Q.
  19. I've been playing around with the Pentax Q system. One of it's interesting features is the 5x crop factor. I've added a Pentax Q - K adapter, and picked up a cheap K mount 55-300 zoom lens. The result is a telephoto lens with an equivalent focus length of something like 1500 mm. I'm still learning to use the set up, but this is a moon shot with no cropping or enlarging whatsoever: You could pick up this kit for less than $600.
  20. I've developed around 8 rolls of 400 tx using this developer. From my research, the time you develop at stage three depends on the temperature of your developing solution. 7 minutes if it is at 20 degrees celcius. There are charts around for different times at different temperatures. I've never been that fussy, and just use 7 minutes. Agitate your tank every 30 seconds - apparently over agitating can cause problems. The trickiest part to the whole procedure in my experience is winding the film on the spool. I find it impossible with plastic spindles to wind a 36 frame film without it buckling, and loosing a few frames where they buckle and touch other frames. This causes problems with the developing of those frames. I've recently bought a stainless steel spindle, but have yet to see if it is an improvement. I've never bothered with a wetting agent. I just fill the tank with clean water and add a small drop of washing up detergent and agitate. I just use two of my fingers as a squeegee. I then hang the film in the shower to dry in a dust free enviroment.
  21. I was so happy with my Olympus EM5 that I sold my D7000 & nikon lenses. IME, the only advantage with the Nikon was better focusing on moving subjects. Disadvantages were price, size and weight. Pair it with a panasonic 20mm prime as a start. You can then extend your lens lineup in the future if it tickles your bits.
