  1. Can you already give an indication when the caps will be ready for shipment?
  2. For the power resistors I used these on my amps: http://www.mouser.ch/ProductDetail/BIVAR/939-375/?qs=%2fha2pyFaduhil5LnpddCPNfcxCoAyB34XTcpULg7ziRXscMXtfXbDw%3d%3d
  3. I agree with Aive. I am also planning on using backets from my local hardware store. I will do the cutting and drilling myself (not that many holes needed per bracket). But if someone has no access to a drillpress and saw, this could be difficult. I was also thinking if a thickness of 2-3mm was enough, but thats the only thing they sell.
  4. I have a few questions concerning the capacitors on the GR LV board, if someone is kind enough to answer 1. What are the recommended voltages of the tantalum caps on the GR LV? Is it the same for the 10uf and 47uf? 2. Whats the voltage rating for the 47pf disc cap? 3. Is this the correct 4.7uf 63v cap? http://www.mouser.ch/ProductDetail/WIMA/MKS2C044701M00JSSD/?qs=ISKKXg98%2b1mdri3wReBbVQ%3d%3d 4. Are these the correct 0.01uf caps? http://www.mouser.ch/ProductDetail/WIMA/MKS2C021001A00JI00/?qs=%2fha2pyFaduj8D%2b74lAuj%2fVfU0ISRQQyVkMGVwoGjK1pT08hCW9OSJ62gFby%2fdbTu Thanks for helping
  5. Good reminder. What are you planning on using for the GR LV? 2x18VAC?
  6. I have a question concerning the use of the Goldenreference LV Supply for the KGSSHV Carbon. How much heatsinking do the transistors need? Could they be mounted to the 3mm bottom aluminum plate of the chassis?
  7. Are the FT special order? I can't seem to find any caps rated to 550v on their homepage?
  8. Is it still possible to take part of the GB? For 12$ i'm in...
  9. Could some please explain how to calculate the voltage of the testpoints on the new kgsshv carbon boards? On earier version 0.8v was stated. But that was across a 100ohm resistor and not a 50ohm one. Furthermore I don`t know what current that translates to. thanks
  10. Depending on the cost increase of the LV singles maybe we should decide to go for duals. But lets see how much they cost. Further more I just had the idea, if it wouldn't be possbile to make a board layout for the LV supplies that is produced as a dual board, but could be spilt in the middle into singles, if someone needs them separated. Of course there would be more connectors and mounting holes than on the conventional dual and a "perforated/predrilled" line in the middle? The single trace that crosses the midline on the dual board could be jumpered with a wire or something. AMBs stepped attenuator boards do something similar. Has anyone ever thought about something like this?
  11. I am quite surprised of you experience with toroidy too. Of course you have ordered way more transformer so far than I ever will, but the ones I got from toroidy were perfect. I was going to order one from toroidy for the carbon too, but now I am not so sure about that anymore...
  12. Could you elaborate on that spritzer? I guess you have the most experience here with building these amps so far. What transformer specs do you use then? Do they misbehave? With the conventional KGSSHV and KGST there have also been some recommendations on what transformer specs to use. And I haven't had the slightest problem so far. How is the Carbon different?
  13. I would also really appreciate it if we could get and "official" recommendation on the transformer specs and current.
  14. To which smaller footprint PSU are you referring? Of course if one uses the original KGSSHV PSU, its about the same cost. But all the SIC PSUs have the more expensive 550V caps.
  15. I think PCBnet is the right choice. The prices for the v5 and the fat psus are great. And most likely the board quality will be fine. Could you provide some insight in the board specs? Thank you so much for organizing this GB!!!!
  16. Yes they are equal. I'll use the 10K as an example: RN60: http://www.mouser.ch/ProductDetail/Vishay/RN60D1002FB14/?qs=%2fha2pyFadugG2vypQa1gbcGQODxK9HY%2fn%2fTdwjh1GIvZBlWzO%252bDcnA%3d%3d CMF60: http://www.mouser.ch/ProductDetail/Vishay/CMF6010K000FKEB/?qs=%2fha2pyFadujD%252buaAVkcI%2f9IYQECByzEeW2RQAQwOBEFOkDSJ5X%252b%2fTQ%3d%3d For a single resistor the CMF is 3 times the price of the RN60.
  17. I have a question about ordering the needed resistors from mouser. I want to use all vishay dale parts if possible. I had a BOM where I used mostly CMF60 resistors. Then I noticed that some of these i.e. 1k 10k had much higher prices than other values. My search continued and then I noticed that the RN60 resistors have a much better price than the CMF60. How is this possible? I thought this was more or less the same part, just with lower wattage and voltage ratings because of milspec. Anyone??
  18. If you scroll down in the datasheet of the kemet you also find the following: Shelf Life 2,000 hours at +85°C or 30,000 hours at +40°C 0 VDC
