i've been saying that the switches in a r2r dac were a real problem for many years now. especially the ttl versions.
the teac ud-701n is the cheapest ($4k) of the esoteric dacs that use custom and hand matched switches. I expect that better switches will be the new big deal in the next couple of years.
They need to make one of those with a sacd spinner inside …

I will press the founder about them and encourage him to change the design if the concerns are valid.
How will you press the designer if you don’t understand the technical issues?

I had a mail order gig fix my Samsung plasma power supply recently - looks like they replaced some mosfets here and there. It was Valley TV Service.

Any experience with the Muses volume controller IC in place of clacking relays?
I think it sounds pretty good in fact!

Call me a softie, but I'm in favor of not starving Russia's cats. Even that one.

I am not sure that the situation in Russia will cause more major cyber crime in the US but I guess there is a good chance that it will or already has. So to my network security friends here: what should (and can) do to protect ourselves (besides having secure passwords, 2 factor authentication, and updating our operating systems)? Obviously, there are bigger issue to worry about but I can’t do anything to stop attacks on the oil pipeline, banks, electrical plants, etc.
I would be careful about public statements made about Russia .. and be careful what random super yachts you visit.

It definitely needs something to make it more aborial. We will be cutting a tree in half and mounting it against the structure. But no stocks and slings. It's not for geeks or subs, but for little tykes to curl up and read.
Somewhere they don’t want to leave?

Hate to tell you this, but it isn’t a tree house once the tree is turned into lumber.

We’re you using one of those newfangled planes with the electric cord attached?

Yeah; that doesn’t look good.

Flintstones indeed! I bet you would get much better the second time. I find my bandsaw is hard to use as well - depending on the blade width I have and what I am trying to do, it’s not as easy as it looks (a smaller scroll saw always seemed to work better).

What is that, the TiVO logo?

Looking for some full extension, undermount drawer slides for my IKEA hack projector cabinet - seems like no one has stock and it’s really hard to determine all the “required accessories” one needs. I started looking at Salice and looks like maybe they got bought and renumbered their parts? making it extra confusing… basically looking for 13-14” for a shelf (so no face) to hold the projector… ugh.

Well, their boat stuff works pretty well. Here is a repair I need to fair down and paint - waiting for the weather to warm up.

Thanks Birgir and Marc. My main concern was countersinking something that large in a 3mm thick panel. You guys think that would hold alright? I guess if I have to, I could use a pan head and a washer if necessary. Just trying not to have anything hanging down.
You could use a low profile socket head bolt / wafer head instead of a typical angled - I think FPE also has presets for a larger angle countersink (which exists for this reason) but make sure you can find the fastener before you order the panel l.

Transformer is an AS-0532, weight 2 lbs. Maybe an M6? Playing around in Front Panel Designer right now and it will let me countersink a hole for 3mm panel past an M8. I guess it would hold OK if not abused too much?
M6 should be fine for that - I would reach for a 1/4” screw on instinct so that checks out.

Could you just press fit a ball bearing into the rear of the panel?
