  1. easy easy, i know it's priceless, may us at least have a look at it? just a few photos. really curious about this thingy. thanks.
  2. Which of them has lowest distortion when we implement it properly? Does solid state stuff has lower distortion than the tubey in this case?
  3. I have something still can't figure it out, while without any buffers, the input impedance of this attenuator board is constant, but how about output z? We take the 50k version as the example, how does output z change?
  4. Folks, is sr407 completely better than 207? thx.
  5. Just grabbed a pair of 207, almost new, cost $400... Gonna wanna diy an amp for it, better under $3,000... is kgss seriously overkill? Just wanna have a taste at the famous stax, no interested in the superior models, yet.
  6. Kevin says Collins radio potentiometer is pretty dawn good, could anyone provide a little more details about Collins radio? http://www.head-fi.org/t/677809/the-stax-thread-iii/2895#post_10778293
  7. You can't ask for more with that price. or stick with those Alps blue etc all the time.
  8. What's wrong with him?! That's a lot of money!
  9. Recently a distant friend grabbed a few of this pot, called bi p260p, made by plastic, sounds like some common Brit stuff. seems nothing special at all. But lol, I gotta lol first, P&G is OEM by this company... Actually, P&G is the cherry-picked version of this pot, the tolerance of this pot is 10% (means channel unbalance), we could just pick 10 of these, and select them by ourselves. No need to pay the price of P&G. btw, made by plastic is actually the element is plastic. link http://www.bitechnologies.com/products/panel_pots_sg.htm http://www.bitechnologies.com/ProAudio/ProAudio/index.htm

    Sony MDR-Z1R

New kid in town No need to worry about the price, won't be less than a few grands.
  11. Btw, that $7k amp is single-end essentially, although using some input transformers to convert the signal to balanced, long live single end tube stuff (some tell me with tubes you can't go balance without breaking the bank). I remember one of kevin's designing ideals is avoiding any transformers in the signal paths.
  12. Hi folks, my friend bought a power amp from a small manufacturer locally, it's single ended, non-feedback, discrete stuff, two big toroidal trannies inside (450W each), diamond output stage, using 6 pair of 2SC5200/2SA1943, output power is about 100w @ 8ohm, here's the FFT result they send us, gosh, there're lot of distortion between 90 - 900Hz compared with 1k - 20kHz (but, there's still a peak at 2kHz), what reasons do you guys think that may course these distortion? How do we tweak it to make it lower distorted in those area?
  13. This thread is naughty, I'm sure some guy will answer eating pussy... in their hearts immediately after taking a look at the title
  14. seriously, somebody gotta take a look at this $3.5k amp, grab some pictures from the net, that dac board shouldn't be there, we can not see the whole main board now.
  15. someone posted a pic of the $7k amp, spent me a few minutes to dig it up. input and output both using transformers.
  16. Thanks kevin, google told me the eddy flapship thingy is 7 grands...
  17. eddy current? sounds like an old brand, must be famous.
  18. wow!!! psu with 1.2 nanovolts noise, this is king!!!! a guy named rob watts declares the noise from his psu is 0.22 uv, but our gr is 1.2 nanovolts! http://www.head-fi.org/t/766517/chord-electronics-dave/2940#post_12580084
  19. actually this thing has no vol control, you have to add a highhigh end preamp.
  20. It's a hp amp/preamp, I don't know what to say about its PSU, is +/- 60V necessary?
  21. 40mm Be driver 80 ohm 104dB (now i am kinda waiting for the diamond HP from accuton...)
  22. Guys, do you like Dave, how is it?
  23. well, wanna go for the blackhole, but alfet is a little expensive, i gonna find something to replace it, thou alfet sounds best as far as i read the blackhole thread, much much more better.
  24. folks, if i wanna build a single ended amp (amp for headphones, but not electrostatic amp), which model(s) is the best choice?
