  1. My question is: have we hit a wall and a dramatic innovation is needed for progress or is this the effect of complacency?

I do have to give a nod to Sennheiser, they made an honest attempt at a new approach. Regardless of ones option on the price or result.

I really have no clue what stax was thinking. Why would their limited model be their old flagship? It just doesn't jive well with me.

Didn't they say at some point that they feel the 009 is still the flagship? And that the 009S was for people who don't like the 009?

Presumedly because no one is pushing them, stagnation at the top of their line dictates they release something.

  3. That's the first Omega in space if I'm not mistaken?

It's a great looking watch and I really like the box that they include.

If you are going to be changing straps but don't have a tool have your AD order you one. I got caught out thinking it was in my seamasters box. An odd omission seeing the crazy amount of OEM options they have..

Jeeps are fun too, but a totally different experience. I just love being able to hammer the trails like a trophy truck in addition to crawling. I am like 60 minutes from the rubicon BTW, I would love to do that some day. Sadly and quite confusingly all my friends that are hardcore into Jeeps and crawling are back in Chicago.

  5. Growing up in Chicago it's some of the little things that are much more fun about Nevada. After a 30 cruise through the mountains stopping on main Street Virginia city for some BBQ, parallel parked across from the sheriff office.

Also it may look like its just me but there were quite a few other side by sides parked at various places. SxS plus dirt bikes and atvs make up a surprising amount of the traffic in VC.

And open carry. It's a different world.

  6. I switched my mountain bike from clips to standard petals after my last cash. I was doing a climb and my when about half way through the down stroke on the foot towards the outside of the trail.. my chain snapped. Trail was about 3ft wide myself attached to the bike went tumbling down the slope only about 10ft before getting thankful stuck in a bush. Much happier and consistently less server when I crash now, but the mountain bike is a week day thing and it's the weekend so 300xc it is.

  7. That box would just be a funny oddity if they didn't force you to buy it. I repeatedly suggested that they offer a version with their ether travel case for a few hundred less. It was met with the fiery denial of an evangelist.

Don't forget that these almost shipped with single sided covers until my self and a few other over there repeatedly pointed out what a disaster that would be. This also met with resistance, first feigning ignorance as to what we are taking about.. Then questioning if sealed drivers would work before finally giving in.

They should have shipped with out the display case, custom plug, custom ear cup connectors and a simple protective mesh outer cover on the divers for 2k.

Edit:: and I hate coming across as being against other estat manufacturers besides stax. I'm the furthest from it I desperately want hifiman and mrspeakers in the game to push stax and vice versa. It feels like innovation died a decade ago in stats.

  8. Well I was expecting to be down to my Panerai and g shock for some time while assessing exactly what I wanted next.

But the wife continues to be a bad influence in my life. She saw me checking out pics of this and decided it has a nice look, not entirely pleased that my watch dealer ignored my standing order not to let her buy me anything.

Either way, quite pleased with the piece and he always comes through on the pricing. Normally not a fan of two tone yellow gold but the way it's used here is quite understated.

  9. always a fan of functional materials like nylon, plus the 'just so' adjustment of a nato! I just put really nice silicone strap on my panerai; I popped the stupid spring loaded pins out of the new strap and I am using the stock lug screws, as that is much more secure. I have the stock alligator strap with the panerai deployment and a really nice strap with a buckle that is made of vintage leather from Dangerous9. I am back to this as my daily driver and needed the new strap because neither of the other two stand up to blood and water very well. The market is out of control and I had an offer on my DSSD I couldn't say no too so panerai has been promoted up from the reserves.

The jubilee kinda defines the oyster, doesn't it?

It defines the DJ IMO. The two were released together as a package. IDK if rolex has put other watches on the Jubilee?

The oddly the Jubilee actually predates the oyster bracelet, but the first oyster cases are ~20 years older than the DJ. That is if my memory is working.

  11. I feel like a DJ belongs on a jubilee it was made for it quite literally. It with the fluted bezel gives it a more dressy appearance that works so well. If I want a classic look oyster; I would go for a perpetual or a explorer 1.

That said I would never buy a DJ on a jubilee because despite how much I like the look of the bracelet my arm missing the hair from the localized point where the watch sits is just odd.

  12. @spritzer Technique matches pretty well with my technical level of expertise! I am quite good at hitting things. I am out of high voltage wire anyway, so hitting them will be first up. If that doesn't work they are under warranty; I can send them in for repair. Inconvenient but probably the safest route. If they come back and still have the issue then I will reflow the cable side solder joints first and finally if that doesn't work I will replace the wires from the cable to driver.

    Thanks for every ones input.
