Heh, the case is nice and the front panel is very nice 10mm steel. I don't mind it looking like this, but I am still thinking about getting it checked out by Klaus. This is the unit that Tempest is based on by the way.
This is being discussed in the ortho thread on head-fi. I figure I post it here. If you are attending the upcoming CanJam '09 please check out new Planar Magnetic headphones. The Company is called Audeze, and they will be at Catalina 2B.
I am very curious to hear your impressions

I really like how it sounds so far.
Seeking some advice here. I traded some of my stuff for Symphonic line RG2 Preamp. It's in OK condition and sounds good, but shiny steel front plate and body are covered in patina. What can I use to clean it to restore to it's shinny condition.
It should look like this:
It's also missing two screws from the back plate that hold two RCA jacks to the back panel. Do you guys now a good store to order various crews. These amps are made in Germany so all the screws are hex.

Today I am in fucking nostalgic mood. This brings on so many nostalgic memories. Listening to this now I realize that it's not that creative and not that good, but oh so relevant for it's time. True classic of Russian rock.
I am totally in agreement with the above statement.
If you want interesting well recorded Jazz try some ECM albums, for example: Amazon.com: The Third Quartet: John Abercrombie, Mark Feldman, Marc Johnson, Joey Baron: Music
Yeah, ΨΦ it is, but we all enjoy speculating and making up shit, no? We should send Spritzer, as our emissary, to Japan to lobby Stax and show them how it's done
Now that would be funny as hell or if at CanJam the announcement is that sales will end in a week. I am sure however that headphones will be available for at least a month or two to get all the reviews in and generate some additional demand and publicity. This will help Grado sell new PS1000 as I am figuring HF-2 will be a version of that wood/metal construction idea Grado is promoting now as second coming. These are my speculations.
I wish Stax would do special Head-Fi edition headphones, like Stax SR-Φ: a version of SR-Sigma in alloy hosing with Omega drivers Now that's realistic, ha ha ha
If these are indeed priced below the usual Grado markup prices and because of this are a great value (look like kinda PS1000 and sound very good ) I see the the production ending early to boost PS1000 sales as Grado will not making a lot on HF-2 in this case.
If they are mid-line headphones (like better SR-325) it would make sense for Grado to make them for a much longer time. Would be very interesting to see how this plays out.
