  1. Finally got around to ordering a bunch of this yellow stuff to make me more lazierer.
  2. So, is there a HC approved Scroll Saw? I saw some interesting projects using a scroll saw and found mint Hegners and Excaliburs all around the place here. Both seem decent but the Hegners are twice the price due to rigidity or name brand. Not sure which.
  3. You should look more into Shop Fox. They are typically the more expensive versions of all the Grizzly stuff. That is why I have 4 things from them in the shop now.
  4. According to YouTube, everyone with a wood shop should be making these now so, why not. I call this one “Brent, after they used the jaws of life to get that go-cart helmet off”
  5. I like it as is but for any additional interest I would go Mitre across the front and some finish that won’t see the wood non-uniformly darken with smoke for my vote. I found a woodworker neighbor that used to have a cabinet shop. He is offering my choice of these for a set of chairs. Both older models but fairly heavy duty and appear to be in good shape. I typically have about $450 invested in a pair of chairs at this point so either would be worthwhile, just not sure if I want anything that I have to try to track down helical heads for. https://www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-8-x-65-super-heavy-duty-jointer/g1018 https://www.woodstockint.com/products/w1741w
  6. Bonus question. I have now 6 orders for chairs from locals. Is anyone here using Section 179 to write off their equipment and setting up official businesses for tax purposes? I could use a Naaman level CNC and Hammer Jointer.
  7. Going to build an outdoor version of this. Found some 8/4 Sapele for most of the build but trying to come up with an outdoor wood for the accent slats. White Oak? Any other ideas?
  8. That is what I am thinking. Looking for scraps to nail into a bench for the new front seating area.
  9. Any wood guys that can guess the type of wood? I have over 100 1.5x1.5x8’ strips of this wood. Really heavy, almost looks like Mahogany on the edges but I am not sure.
  10. I have seen enough bad reviews of the new Dewalt with bases breaking off that I guess it will not be that one.
  11. I know my scattered audience. Doug will be here shortly to recommend a router plane from some Tibetan guy that only makes them once every seven years I did almost buy one of the small Makita drills the other day as HD had one on the clearance rack for 70% off but some jag off bought it before I went back to grab it. I really like the Bosch Cowboy or whatever the fuck corded router I use now, just want to lose the cord. Maybe I will look at those as well. My tool shop has 15% off all Milwaukee Friday so that might make a nice choice if I get one with yet another battery.
  12. I have a set of those but it seems like I never tried them. Went all Mag Switch recently as adjustables on mitre slots annoy me. What is the HC approved battery palm router, (not Makita Steve) between Dewalt and Milwaukee, as I want to buy no more batteries and chargers? I am leaning towards Dewalt as I have too many tools going at once with Milwaukee batteries to share another tool and I like the brakes.
  13. Got a headache planning my approach so I just fucking used nails.
  14. Anyone have any guesses about approaching the domino placement for this 45 degree joint between a splayed leg and the skirt of the table? In my mind I think I use the tabs on the top (bottom in pic) to get the top domino but not sure what to reference for the lower domino.
  15. The only Dewalts I own. I like them. I actually picked up the baby versions of my drills and impacts last night to get into the tighter places of these rockers as I have three orders for pairs from neighbors that saw mine.
  16. Cut out a ton of wasted dust collector hose from the system and added an Oneida Super Dust Deputy to try to make these Rockler PoS DCs work well enough to keep me from having to buy the big Oneida.
  17. All done and ready to be moved to the deck with the neat razor scooter wheels.
  18. Rain delays at Lakeside Woodworking, but the assorted pieces are starting to look more like chairs.
  19. Today was finally finish day. If anyone is looking for a project to perfect their bandsaw skills, this is the one. I am a fucking surgeon on that thing after all these cuts.
  20. Do any of the SawStop crew run the overarm dust collection systems? Looking for options to limit the massive amounts of dust on every surface of the garage. Probably upgrade from the shitty dust right dust collectors first but started watching videos on the overarm options. I see very little difference in the videos so I am wondering if they even work.
  21. Last cut of the entire project and I managed to throw a tire, somehow. I guess I need to buy new tires for the bandsaw now.
  22. Went into the City to pick up the Penofin oil for the deck chairs and found I can get clean 2x12 cedar there for less than I was paying for rough cut 2x8 out in the country. Who would have thunk it.
  23. I get it. I missed out on this one as I was trying to figure out how big it is, and if the ad was a scam, but she seems to be selling a lot of high end shit.
  24. Interesting. Do not see myself doing crown molding but I love the brands like Kreg that just come up with ways to make things easier. The issue with getting to the wood is that the wood stacked in front of my wood was not the wood I am looking for. I could have cut into those stacks, but that would not have helped me get to the cedar 2x4s I wanted behind the two stacks.
