In hd, it's not gonna stretch, it's only SD material that needs stretching. The choice is to get a 16x9 display, and stretch SD, or get a 4x3, and have bars for HD.

On my toshiba, there's a "theater wide" setting that will stretch the screen to fit. It also can zoom in a little to fill in the grey areas. I just got used to seeing fatter people on tv

I definitely preferred the UM2s to the ER4Ps, even tho I didn't find the ER4Ps lacking, exactly. Just, uhm, boring.

My suggestion would be to find the local hifi shop, and go in and talk to them. They frequently will have tradeins, or forsale boards, and will probably have recommendations. The shops I used to hang out in understood that young poor audiophiles become less young and less poor as time goes on.

I did apologize in the previous post. However, what triggered my annoyance was your mention of your rca cable in one post followed immediately by the mention of the recable in the other post, where neither seemed (to me) to be relevant. But whatever, you are free to annoy me, just as I'm free to annoy you.

Sorry to harsh your mellow, man. Go back to your buzz, and just ignore what I have to say. Where I come from, when someone does something annoying, you tell them. That's why I didn't ban you, edit the post, talk about you in areas you couldn't get to, or dismiss you. I just pointed out an annoying tendency. You don't want to listen, then don't. I don't think you are marketting to headcase, but even if you were, I don't mind marketting. I just mind annoying.
It was just the two posts in rapid succession that got to me. I did a search, and you're right, my perception didn't match reality. You have posted about other things more often than your recabling. I apologize for exaggeratting the extent of your self promotion.

IJWTS that you don't have to mention that you have siltech wire everywhere it's possible to have it. We get it. It's your company, you use the wire, you like it. Pretend we all assume that everything you own, even your toilet paper rack, is made from siltech wire.
The first thing I did was hook the DAC to the Pioneer DV-563a as a transport. Driving my Sony SA5000’s (Siltech wired). This is with essentially zero hours. Out of the box with my Sony’s the sound is a little bright. The bass is very heavy, almost overpowering. I expect both characteristics to improve with break-in. There is however a chance that my Sony’s are not the headphones for this amp.
I then moved the amp into my bedroom. It’s being driven via USB from my computer. I hooked up my Ety ER-4S. Right now I am listening to Shostakovich String Quartets Nos 7-9 The Brodsky Quartet. This sounds very nice, considering that it’s mp3 burned at 256K.
I just now plugged in my Acoustic Energy Aego (The original model) powered computer speakers using a 1/8” to RCA cable. It sounds better this way than using my sound card.
I’ll be playing the amp and DAC non-stop for the next couple of weeks.
My only criticism at this point is that it would be nice to have front panel controls for switching between the digital inputs and the analog input. I think that ultimately I am going to end up using two digital inputs along with the analog input. Methinks I’ll become an expert of the reach-around.

Good god folks, go outside.

Why not just get an airport express etc and a decent dac?

I just find it hard to believe that a consumer products company would actually make a true high end product.

Your annecdotes don't match jdpower/consumer reports. The ford ranger is one of the most reliable vehicles on the market...

A week later and I could have potentially attended.

I'm about to trade my pilot in on a used car. I'm done with alaska, so I don't need an SUV anymore. I'mthinking ford ranger or toyota sr5 pickup truck, 2-3 years old. Good ac, small cab to cool, good reliability.

Why does the name matter? If they sound good and are comfortable, I could care less if they were called iSuck.

Amazingly, martin logan speakers are sold by costco (as is the amazing denon 4706 receiver...)

You'd think, but it was much harder to find my vtgs than my old jpns.

I can't remember what I voted. However, I think a good touch would be to give all members the ability to unlock any thread if they felt the need to add a comment. If that were in place, I'd be all for giving everyone the ability to lock their own threads. Otherwise, leave 'em open.
What would be the point of locking, in that case?

Saw bruce hornsby at wolftrap last week. Was supposed to go to moe.down this weekend, but I wrecked my bike instead. Currently, my next planned show is hornsby at the Keswick in november, but I'll probably go see someone else before then.
