Not from that picture. Have a larger one?

Used to be. Still have cdt/image dynamics/kenwood in my car but with all the soundproofing a car needs and other things rather put time/money elsewhere. After listening to my headphone setup I went in my car and realized it need some work! Beautiful work on your truck. How does it sound?
It sounds very good but do to the fact it's a truck, it will never be a two seat car. I much prefer to listen to music in my car than in my house. But then again I need to seriously upgrade my house set-up.
To anyone that may be interested in pursuing this, all that silver damping material in the link is really what makes the system shine, imo.I'd rather have $100 speakers and $500 worth of damping mat installed than $500 speakers and $100 damping mat installed. Its really critical in cars. Most car doors have incredibly thin and resonant metal. The stock speaker mounting points are usually directly coupled to all that metal.
Just my 2 cents.
Getting rid of all the resonance and vibrations definitely is a large part of getting it to sound good. Speaker placement also plays a large amount into it. Great speakers in a crappy location will sound like crap. You also need a good crossover/eq to fix things that placement/enclosure design can not. I think that's part of the reason I like it because it's a real challenge to get things right.

Any one else here into car audio? This is a little install I did about two years ago. I plan to change it up a bit when I get back and maybe compete a little more.
-
I definitely plan on building one (or five) but how crazy I am going to go is undecided. I am starting to pick up Solidworks (don't think I will ever be a master) and would like to design a custom case for it. But like all things time and money are a factor.

No $20,000 cables here.
I think three would be good to start with for all the main channels, then go from there.
-
Looks like more of my money will be going to AMB. Still waiting on the B24 to be released so I can build 5 for my home theater:eek:
-
It's also nice to know that the Square Wave has breakthrough technology in the form of push-pull. Did I step into a time machine or something?
Hitler wire FTW!!! One you think that suck-it-alo would sell such a marvelous thing...
Oh I don't really know where to go with this one. Being Jewish and German I could go either way......
-
Anyone who's lived in military housing can relate.
Or flies a "State of the art" military aircraft everyday:rolleyes:
-
"miltary wire" is probably lamp cord from some old barrack.
Probably. Maybe someone can find an NSN for it and I can get a hold of a spool.
-
If you were up for a little DIY you could build a USB Opus with a Metronome ASRC board for around $300. Would also give you the option to upgrade to a full balanced DAC in the future by just adding boards.
-
Well Mikhail has also created 8 channels from 4:
Thanks for that. I feel dumber now.
-
Otherwise I can't believe that he had the gall to just rip that DAC out of a cheap soundcard and bolt it into his product.
He could at least have used a good one. Even drawing up a simple board to use a PCM2707 would have been better.
-
I would go with two PS boards to be safe.
-
I kind of like the way the BGs just give the rest of the blue capacitors the finger. "Fuck you. I'm red. What are you going to do about it?"
-
It's all up and running ghetto style. I have a DIR9001 receiver, PMD100 digital filter, and the PCM63P-K DACs. Many thanks to Pars for hooking me up with -V reg to get it going.
So far I think it sounds very very good. I plan on letting it burn in for about two minutes to two years then compare it to the Buffalo.
I might also look into adding a external clock and upgrading the analog PS caps.

Most of the B22's use an off the shelf transformer and they almost always have a dual primary i.e. two 117v windings which are parallel connected for US voltage but can be connected in series for 230v. That's exactly what I did with mine.
The B22 sounds great but it is also versatile and can drive speakers and Stax transformers with ease.
When I built the last four B22s two of them were for 230v. Anybody that can build a 110v B22 should be able to build a 230V one. It can even be made switchable with a IEC that can switch between 230V and 110V.
-
Pimp my β22?
Or at least get the transistors on there right
-
I was referring to the Drobo. In the case of the BlacX it means it has eSata so if your computer has a eSata port you can use that. Definitely the way to go because it has a much higher transfer rate than USB and Firewire.

Great! Postage to you will be a lot cheaper then. We should start a pool on how long it takes your "Money spent on Scotch" tracker to hit $1K..
I don't think it should take that long. I need to replace a couple bottles and I want to find some Yoichi.
I would start a cigar tracker but I don't want Kitchen 6 to see it
-
I really wish they would come out with a e-sata version.
-
man, you should lobby for a patch, pronto.
I don't think they will have a patch for that, but they will be coming out with one that lets you quit playing in about 90 days.
-
man, that sounds like fun! did you remember to use your save points?
Strangely enough we don't get any.

Every night just around bed time someone shoots rockets at you. If the explosions don't wake you up the stupid alarm will.
Post the last thing you bought!
