Is anyone aware of an app that will turn my Galaxy Note 10.1 into a stereo remote control ala Logitech Harmony? It sure would be handy.

Does that tablet have an IR transmitter?

 

The subject is suddenly interesting because I just read the the new Galaxy S4 phone does and indeed has a remote control app. Which means that an app to turn off annoying televisions in public places can't be far behind. Imagine being able to zap TVs in restaurants as easily as blasting aliens in the original Space Invaders. The mind boggles.

 

There are apps to control most music servers from phones and tablets via WiFi but that's probably not what you're looking for.

I think it does Carl. It's on top next to the Micro SD slot. That's what made me think it possible. Would be very handy for me.

Yeah, samsung lists " Integrated IR blaster" on their spec sheet.

I love Roomie Remote on the iPad. Unfortunately it is IOS only. It is so powerful and flexible I am thinking of buying a few older generation iPod touches to replace every other remote in the house.

My Samsung tablet had it preinstalled.  It was also available on the website for download.

Mine has that pre-installed as well, but it's only for TV. I want to control all my audio gear.

I want to go into a sports bar and turn all their channels to E! at once.  Or perhaps Lifetime.

Dangblastit, the Nexus 10 doesn't have IR.  I'll have to see if there's a wireless option.

You don't need IR with the Beacon. Phoneblet --BT--> Beacon --IR--> HT Components
