It happened finally.  Something killed the power supply on my apogee ensemble.  No scorch marks visible, no fuse i can find, it just doesn't power up anymore.  I've emailed apogee, but they stopped supporting these a few years ago.  I just don't have thunderbolt on my mac pro, and really don't want to go through all that.  So I'm torn between replacing it with another one, finding someone to repair it, or getting a metric halo.

has to be a $25 switcher in there. those things die all the time. Really easy to replace.

there actually is a fuse on the power supply, looks like a resistor, and if its blown, likely the rest of it is toast, but I have been known to fix them if necessary.

I'll take pictures later, I appreciate any advice I can get   I need to see if I have a meter anywhere or if they're in storage waiting on this move to finish.

the T2A round black thing is the fuse, you can check continuity. Looking for exact replacement now

24 volts 1.67 amps  mounting holes 3.7 x 1.7 inches

made in 2005, so its definitely time to replace

Hey Grawk Just seen this thread ....my ensemble psu has died too after a few years of taking its time to turn on.

The links still work and one of the psu's is still available.I'm going to give it a go ....is your's still holding up?

I just tested the T2A black round fuse on the p.s.u. and I have continuity.So not sure if I should replace PSU or not?

measure output voltage. probably zero. replace power supply

@Gilmam - post the sticker from the power supply?  I'm not sure if we're talking "brick" here or more complex.  I could read above but I'm tired.  Also, just because the unit isn't powering up doesn't mean the PS is dead.  Do you have a multimeter?

Just installed a new PSU, the unit didn’t power yet. I have a beeping sound coming out from the new PSU

power supplies are not supposed to go beep.

I realise this is an old topic but I need to get a power supply as my ensemble blew up, inside I found a mosquito had arced the PS to the case! or at least it looked like it, surely there should be some kind of protective shielding to the case body! 

Anyone any idea where to find a Power supply that would work? Kevin you still about? I'm ok with soldering & replacing the odd cap but this has burnt marks all over it so not sure if it's path I should go down etc but working out what supply I might need apart from the voltage I'm not sure what would be best. The second link at Mouser still works but it's 65w I presume as long as the pins are ok & it's 24v it should be good?

bonus if it fits the original holes.

otherwise remove old studs, drill new holes etc..
