purk Posted June 4, 2009 Report Share Posted June 4, 2009 I owned the X707ES briefly and thought they sounded great but I still prefer the sound of the newer XA7ES, and SCD-1 to it. If the laser assembly brakes you are done, unless you have a way to get a replacement. I really liked this Sony as a transport, much more than a CDP. Most buyers use these older units as the transport. Most older highend Sony CDP share the same transport as Accuphase units and Sony "R" series units.
