I can't take full credit for it, only its use in this context (and a little fun with language). Can't find the exact correct phrasing of the quote, so you'll have to settle for my memory (which, admittedly, is faulty):

Yeah, I saw that, but wikiquote also says, "Exact wording varies", and that sounds like a grammatically correct-ified version of what he said originally. He may have said it multiple times, which may make it impossible to determine for sure.

It's a great quote, but you needn't credit anything to me, I didn't say it. You may want to say something along the lines of "paraphrased of Louis Armstrong, etc."

And do you realize: we're asking, and we're never getting to knowing (what the quote was).
