I'm about to give my M^3 a major overhaul - new enclosure, sigma 11 to replace the current tread power supply, and a possible cap upgrade.

I've never found myself using the bass control much and am considering removing it. It's removal would seem to remove 1 pot and a few caps from the signal path, which might be a good thing to do, especially if you don't see the need for constant bass adjustment.

I would agree with the removal. I built my M3 with the BB and I always keep it at its minimum setting. It's extra clutter without extra functionality.

I kinda assumed most people don't bother with bass control. Is that valid?

I had a Rockhopper one that had no bass control. Never found myself wishing it was there.

I think a gain switch is more useful than bass control on M^3

I initially had a pot in there as the optional variable gain control. I never used it, so shunted it out of the circuit.

I'm building a M3 and the first thing I did was to install the jumpers to bypass the bb circuit. Variable gain may be a good idea but you can always put in a switch to do that. Hell wire up a 24V relay directly on top of the board for a short signal path.

I'm running one with variable gain, but after setting it at a nice level for my cans I never used it again, it's a nice feature for people with different cans!

i would like to add bb to my M3, just to listen to Dub...with my AKGs . as is, the B22 has a skosh more bass though .
