How the hell can I get AKG parts?

Featured Replies

Ugh.. I have sent them 5 unanswered emails, as well as called three times.

All I want is a pair of K271 velour pads, and the foam inserts from a K240. Can anyone advise me here?

Have you tried posting on their support forum? I've seen a response to inquiries there a couple of times.

It really sounds like things have been a mess support wise since they moved their US operations.

No kidding. I've been waiting for any word on my K1000s I sent in about 2 1/2 months ago.

It's absolutely absurd.

Does anyone know of the K271 comes stock with the velour? And does Guitar Center RMAC (return to manufacturer) their return merchandise?

I'm almost to the point of buying a 271, taking the foam discs, swapping the velour pads, and returning the 'phones so they can go back to AKG that way. But that's not honest, IMO so I doubt I'll actually do it.

I don't think the 271s come with velour pads.

Haha weird, I e-mailed them about getting a K240 headband and they responded within thirty minutes. They said they've shipped out the part within a day.

You are correct, they come with pleather pads, although the velour pads are quite nice.

Talk to swt61 [steve] from head-fi as I know he is ordering some AKG parts for a friend of mine.

I did, and he said that the parts guy wasn't getting back to him either.

I'm boycotting AKG until they feel like getting back to me.

AT all the way. Too bad I only have an ES-7 and ES-5

I think you mean, "Too bad Audio Technica is poop."

Yeah, that's it. :D

Except the L3000 as those own.
Still have yet to hear them... :(

What's wrong with the telephone? That is how I always contacted them when in Tenn.. Now: 818-920-3279

Yeah I think I'll give them a call on wed/thurs.

Anyone know of the situation in the UK? I've tried contacting Harman but no reply, the *******.

Seems like a shame to let my soon-to-be-replaced K701 collect dust as I've 'customised' them for my use by cutting the bungee cords. If anyone else is to use it I need to re-install the bungee cord assembly, and while I'm at it I'd like to replace one of the perforated metal earcup caps I screwed up trying to twist it off.

Anybody dealt with them lately? I called Frank yesterday and I sat on hold for a half hour, my entier lunch break, before hanging up. He picked up, said Frank, can you hold? I said OK.

What a joke.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been trying to contact Frank for the last two weeks. When I leave a message he never calls back. And the one time he answered his phone he quickly said he has to put me on hold, then it was another 10 minute wait.

He hasn't replied to my email either.

Its absolutely terrible. They used to have such good service. This Harman move killed them, and as such I refuse to purchase anymore of their products.

I e-mailed them on Friday for some pads--haven't gotten a response yet but it's been only two days.

I got a response, after I called Frank. He answered, asked to put me on hold. I kinda got a little hot under the collar, and asked if I should speak to his supervisor.

I got an email reply later that day with prices.
