This guy was here in Cayman these past two days, along with his wife. I couldn't be bothered to go to any of the events. Watched baseball and basketball instead. But by all accounts, they had a lot of fun and it was a great opportunity for local people, especially the kids.

If you go back to the very first post, you'll see why I gave it that name and the reservations that I had about it even then... little did I know that it would survive for so many years and become part of the fabric here. It's a great thread in the sense that it allows everyone to bring attention to notable individuals whose lives have been impactful in one way or another. But it was really meant for mostly for famous people who we don't have close personal connections to. Have to admit that it has creeped me out on more than one occasion for the very reason you mentioned, Al. Much better now. Reserve the right to call someone a fuck when they really were a fuck though... Charles Manson comes to mind in the not too distant past.

RIP, Colleen. Sorry to hear this news, Bryan. Remember her well and celebrate her memory when you get together with your high school friends. We've now lost a bunch of people, but none were that young.

Cool that you have the mount for your iPad and can drop it in any time you want to. Great outdoor solution. See what you mean about the shadows. In the first pic the board without darts looks positively bright. But I think you probably need to hit it from at least 3 directions, which then creates a logistical nightmare in terms of where to mount them. Like you say this is why the ring lights are a thing, although they really look odd to me - every single one I've seen. Trade offs.

Ya, for sure. That would be fun. I can't believe your kids won't just quit growing and changing, and just stay the way they are! As for the cyclists hating the old fart out of shape e-bike pretenders... well they can all go fuck themselves. Hope they're lucky enough to get old and fat too. It's not as bad as people make it out to be.

That would be fantastic. Loved Seattle on my one brief visit there. My friend in Tampa (who is the manager of the RV storage place that I've been basing out of with my motorhome for years) has one and loves it. He's in his early 60s and not as terribly out of shape as many people past 50 are, but has had serious issues with his legs as a result of a work accident a couple of years ago. So he uses the assist on hills and just when he's not feeling as motivated. Rides 4 miles per day and gets a little moist (where's Steve?) but not dripping in sweat. Feels good about just getting out there and doing something for himself and not having to get off his bike to make it up hills. Reading the reviews, seems like a bike that a lot of people in their 50s-70s are enjoying after they are effectively past the age/shape when they would realistically go out and ride a normal bike on a regular basis.

Looks good. Ya, my G3 didn't come with the Rotafix mount either, but I've got 3 of them coming. The battery powered Viper lights have arrived. Hard plastic, but certainly functional and will work well with the octagon shaped backboard, the sides of which are maybe an inch or two longer than the lights. Just need to build a frame around the backboard so I can mount the lights properly.

Thanks again. I ordered 3 of the rotafix mounts and just assumed that they could work with any board. They're like $10 apiece so no biggie if they don't work well with other boards. Decided on the octagon shape backboard. Will try with 2 lights, one on each side, but will have the 3rd one for the top if I get in ultra overkill mode. Otherwise I'll just use it for something else, like my shed in the backyard.

Trying to figure out which shape to order. Actually already ordered one, but have a return window of a couple more weeks. Any thoughts one way or another?

Again, all great advice, Marc. Much appreciated. I did end up ordering the Wide Fives board. It should be fun as a change of pace. I really like the idea of a lighting system and will look into that. I take it that the G3 comes with a rotofix mount, but the other boards don't? Anything to make rotating the boards easier (and swapping them in and out as well) would be a big plus. The 20s get worn out pretty quickly if you're not rotating them on a regular basis.

Of course, I'm in London 4-5 times per year, but usually just passing through, and don't want to get in the habit of sending personal stuff to the office there. Interesting about the stem lengths and materials and experimenting with that and flights. Should be another fun hobby. I'm thinking that could be fun particularly with inexperienced players like at a party, or actually for kids as well. Good man. May he rest in peace. Florida baseball is a joke. I think they're all just spoiled by Spring Training. Nobody goes to Rays or Marlins games. It's really pathetic. The Rays sell out on opening day every year with pretend fans who go for the atmosphere. Then they have about 5,000 people in the seats the next day, with official attendance usually 13,000 or so with all of the empty corporate seats that they give to sponsors. After that, the only time there is a decent crowd is when the Yankees or Red Sox are in town and bring their own fans along with the old geezers who have transplanted themselves into the area.

Lost a dear friend, a truly gentle, beautiful man who was ever so kind hearted and generous with his time, and an incredibly talented and graceful musician... yesterday... to mental health issues that eventually could no longer be contained. We kind of knew it was coming, but it's a tough train to stop. He reached out, he was embraced, he knew that he had support, and yet we all knew, somehow, that this day would come. He had a million and one friends. We will surely miss you, Jon. You were everywhere all the time, forever performing and greeting everyone with your amazing Caymanian smile. Our tiny Island weeps for your tender and tortured soul. You always said that your music was your solace, peace, and grace, and that everything else was pure torture and never made sense. Hope you packed well for your next journey. Tonight is the opening event for the Christmas season here, a tree lighting ceremony that I perform at in front of 5,000 people. Jon was always backstage, every single year, to joke around and keep us all calm before we went on. But mostly to just be there for me as a friend, and to be a part of it. Told me once that it was the only Saturday night that he didn't book for the entire year because a backstage pass with Santa and his elves was just too much fun to miss... and now this.
