  1. It doesn't seem so. Not so good at holding normal sized headphones either. Sure are purdy though.
  2. Actually, as I read the comments, there is a lot of concern that these stands are not thick enough (at 7.5cm instead of a more desired 10cm, which apparently they are willing to offer in a future drop due to all of the feedback). The concern is that earpads may be damaged from uneven pressure. Most headphones are about 9mm wide, so it seems. Someone posted several pics with a pair of Denon D7000 on the stand, where the outer parts of the earpads are not making contact with the stand. Dang site won't let me grab a pic to post it here. Will wait for the 10cm version. Oh, and the other issue is that being solid wood they are quite heavy and shipped from Canada, so the shipping is 50% of the price of the silly things.
  3. These look to be nicely made and the price isn't too bad at all. Never can have enough headphone stands. Not a big fan of mixing woods, unless you're doing something special when you do so (i.e., something more than merely sandwiching ash between black walnut). So it's either the black walnut or painted elm... decisions... https://www.massdrop.com/buy/woodlab-royal-glam-headphone-stand
  4. Yesterday, I was on my way back from Monaco to Cayman, and sat next to this dude on the London-Miami flight in business class: http://www.johnsambataro.com/www.johnsambataro.com/Home.html Interesting guy. He's 63 and has been touring for 30 years, mostly with Dave Mason's band, but with Firefall for a while as well. Kind of a dead giveaway. He was wearing a new looking jacket that had this really cool embroidery on the back that read Dave Mason World Tour 2007. I had noticed it when we were boarding, so I had to ask him about it when he sat right across the aisle from me. "Oh, we get all kinds of this stuff..." Just a pretty regular guy who has seen the world several times over and is happy to still be doing what he loves and getting paid for it.
  5. Fucking Alan Colmes died at age 66. Holy shit. I had no idea that he was sick. RIP... he was a good man. http://wavy.com/2017/02/24/alan-colmes-liberal-voice-on-fox-dead-at-66/
  6. Don't know the details, but they'll sound good if he likes them.

    New Maggies

Any way to get the Maggies away from the wall? They should really open up if you could manage that somehow. I know... rooms... it's never easy, but worth experimenting with if even for just a day.
  8. I don't know about cones of confusion or the like -- to me, they just sound pretty damn good. Better, best, or bestest evar? Ehh, I really don't know. Too soon to make those types of assessments or wax philosophical about them. Just having fun listening for now...
  9. Sounds like he wants to brush it under the rug, to me. That being said, I always liked the way Oakley played in terms of his tenacity. A true 'enforcer' who always had his teammates backs... when that type of physical play was still acceptable in the league. But he's really stepped out of bounds on this one, so they really shouldn't just pretend like it didn't happen. Ban him form MSG for the rest of the season, perhaps, rather than indefinitely. In any case, the rumors circulating seem to point to some serious alcohol problems. To the extent that may be true, I hope he gets the help he needs. That's never easy for anyone...
  10. Amazing tribute, Brent. He would be proud of the man his son has become.
  11. Happy belated birthday, Jeff!
  12. Got up early for a 5:30am "training" call on a new app that is being used to share files for board meetings. Basically, so you don't have to travel with a stack of papers that contain confidential information. Lady calls me from London (it was the only time all day she could fit me in), and I tell her I've downloaded the app, have logged in, changed my password, and created two security questions. She seems relieved. On we go to the training... about how to navigate. Click on the navigate button. Ok, gotcha. Now click on the sample file. Ok. You should see items on the left. Tab 1, Tab 2, and Tab 3. Ok. So you can click on any of those and it will take you to the respective tab. Ok. Do you want to try one? Sure. I've just clicked on Tab 1. Ok, well that should take you to Tab 1. Indeed. Now you can click on the Agenda button and that takes you back to where you started from, so now you see Tab 1, Tab 2, and Tab 3 again. Then when you're within a tab you can go form page to page with the right arrow to advance a page and the left arrow to go back a page. Ok. So you're understanding everything? So far. Ok, another interesting feature is in the lower right hand corner. Do you see where it shows the page numbers? Yes, Im on page 8 of 96. Ok, good. So where it says 8, you can type in a specific number that you might want to go to. Ok, like 49? Yup I just did that, and it took me right there. That's good to know. Ok, well that's pretty much everything. Do you have any questions. No, I think I'll be fine. It seems pretty simple. Oh, it really is. That's what everyone says. (Not picking up on my sarcasm, apparently.) Ok, thanks again. You have a good day... WTF??!!?!? Why must there be "training" on absolutely fucking everything in the corporate world!!?!?! Fucking sun wasn't even up and I was already pissed off.
  13. That, and he's done pretty well for himself and his family, for decades now... doing what, exactly? Oh ya... making headphones.
  14. Outstanding, Brent re: Xavier's bike! Big moment for him for sure. Jeff, my vote is for the bomb pop bike! Seriously, I like it a lot more than the green one. Although that's probably a good reason to get the green one...
  15. We need to send Steve to see if he has a bug up his own ass.
  16. Oh shit! Sad news for sure. RIP, Ken. I only met him one time, circa 2003 or so at the meet that you and he hosted at Grado Labs. He had great energy. Like you say, good guy and far too young (same age as me).
  17. Ok, so not today but the other day... fucked up my JH13. Long story short, I dropped the right earbud on a tile floor. It cracked and it's now hollow sounding when I flick it with my finger (no, not that way, Steve!). Can they be rebuilt or repaired? I'm sure it will sound fine, though I'm afraid to test it, and it will probably stay intact for some time, but there is a crack in the middle of it that goes half way across... pic would help, I suppose. Just think it would need to be remolded somehow for strength. ... So the long story is that I use only the left earbud for my "Smart Santa" routine, where I'm getting information from the parents about their kids (names, ages, what they want for Christmas, or what they got last year, anything else they want to tell me). It's the same thing that faith healers do by getting people to eavesdrop on conversations and then relay that information to the guy in the pulpit. (Not that Santa should be associated with such snakes!). Ok, so my season is over and I'm home from a 34 hour shift, straight through the night with sneak a peek visits and all through the morning and into the evening on the 25th, and instead of just jumping in the shower and going to bed, I decided it would be a good time to reunite the L and R earbuds on the JH13 before finally putting them away. Of course, something I could have done at any time and anywhere, and not necessarily while wobbling through my bathroom with a tile floor! Maybe after sleeping for about 18 hours and then sitting on my bed in the room with carpeting... Fuck...
  18. Day one of the candy cane giveaway adventures. So last year about this time I bought nearly 2,000 candy canes at closeout prices. Assured by my fellow Santa friends that they would keep well in cool dry places for at least a year, I figured I'd get a year's supply and be ahead of the curve. Then of course completely forgot about them until about a week before Christmas. Big massive Glad bags full of them in a closet... and indeed they did keep well. But now I want to get rid of them, so we're hitting the beaches and my elves are helping. Like Oprah, "You get a candy cane! You get a candy cane! Everyone gets a candy cane!" Think we gave out about 500 of them today. I've got another crew of elves all set to go for Saturday, and it's a fun way to reconnect with people and to allow them to share in the joy of being elves for the kids. Top down on the way back to town from Rum Point.
  19. Happy birthday, Ric! Best wishes for the new year as well.
