Glad that God of Stats agreed with me. I think I'm practicing my writing and deduction skills in audio.......i said it and gonna said it again, 950+404LE = O2 Bit OOT but I was wondering is there any sonic difference between xlr and rca input on Headamp KGSS?

been putting like 15 hours listening. one thing that someone here point out which also quite true is that this headphone tolerate crappy recording/ripping better than 950. I also agree with JimP that its a very musical headphone. But for neutrality I would still put my money at 950. Will try to post impression up to 7th day of using it

should be O2......btw, I drive this and 950 from KGSS so my experience may slightly differ from yours

justin - this is a nice complement to 950. And I have theory that this plus 950 should translate to Omega.........even though I havent actually heard Omega before. One more thing, 404LE is much more sensitive to interference than 950. I had this baby humming when I rest my palm on the notebook palm rest. After a quite exhausting investigation, I separated the electrical outlet of the notebook with the amp, the humming disappeared.

Pull a trigger on 404LE......now its on my ears now. So far loving it. All I can say now after brief listening, its mid end stats with reasonable bass. Unlike ESP950 where the bass can be considered weak, 404LE comes with more than enough quantity and quality of bass but the impact still not up to par yet. Some of comments here said that its relatively dark, IMHO its actually because of the mid that is not as forward as ESP950 or combination of it. Sound signature can be considered somewhat Grado like to but of course with stats traits.

was quoted 5600 from stax distributor which translate to like usd25 more than elusive disc and that excl shipping charge (around $20), i dont know if should pull trigger or not. mingo have no idea when the new stock going to come in. perhaps never according to them. for the dac, the small discount based from price list? CONUS price list? thanks

sorry, my assumption are baseless. Its just from what I read and worst *felt* due to the very limited population of this 4070 and the relatively abundant of O2.....

thanks Voltron, if thats the case then what makes is inferior to O2? (aside from one open and the other closed) The assumption I have always have is that 4070 has always been like a "expensive bastard child" in a stax family line up

for the sake of my knowledge, has anyone listened to 4070? I know its a tad away from O2 (price wise) but does this beast has its own unique sound sig or rather share its sig to the rest of the family ? If it shared to the rest of family then which series does it closest resemble? Appreciate if anyone can fill me......Just curious only. Thanks

You guys should've done a review. What you guys said may affect the sales and who knows might sold out and become collectors item like HF2. Glad the hear that this headphone bettered the ESP950.

Folks, been searching high and low for review of this headphone but couldn't find an extensive review on it. All the infos are scattered here and there. One impression I found at HF during Dutch meet was some folks prefer this than HE60, did any of you agree with this statement? All the statements I found also said that this is an entirely different can than 404 Sig in a good/better way. Another question, this can is 1000 limited production with a price point not far from HF2 (was offered around $600 new), why is it still relatively available ? I mean its not that difficult to find new unlike HF2 which sold out already. Is it because its a stats thus not many people are interested ?

Avoid anything with atom processor if you plan to watch any hd video......, simply cannot take it, thats all i can say......

If you can afford BHSE or WES, just go all the way. By doing that you eliminate any doubts if your system can sound better in the future when you have Omega. I own a KGSS only for 2 months and I'm having a hard time now to hold my lust to upgrade to the next level. So far my logic still wins

folks, hook up neko d100 i bought from todd, the bass responses improved with the 950. I guess I'm halfway there......There's something magical about this dac that i cannot explain now, it could be new toy syndrome though

i was told that the traits of 404LE and 950 make up for O2. In other words 404LE+950=O2 ,CMIIW

up the bias voltage for a better bass on 950? to what? 620V?

to add, i actually do not have any complaints with the 950 now except i wish it has more bass/bass impact......

Anybody has any experience before? I currently hook 950 from KGSS. My fellow hobbyist from where I live was raving about 404LE and said its a better headphone than 950 and I should get it to complement the 950. FWIR also 404LE got a gleaming review almost everywhere. But no one is yet to comment VS 950. As usual, any comments or advise will be appreciated
