  1. Nah man bling gold ALO/RSA style fo sho
  2. I re-read and I hear what you are saying. Like it gets out of the way and doesn't muck up anything, whereas it appears it is mucking up the sound.
  3. yah
  4. "...AT Amp: It is pretty muddy overall and when I listen to more complicated tracks, different guitars sound identical and the lower range like the kick drums and bass are more similar sounding. In hindsight, I realized I couldn't hear a lot of things with it. I don't think this amp is worthy enough to drive my headphones because it simply did the job of providing a DAC but has a horrible amp... ...ummm...I think he just explained right there... Glad your enjoying it!
  5. Does someone want to take a guess whether the USB input converts directly from I2S or does it convert it to SP/DIF?
  6. He definitely has a great voice, probably the closest I have heard to sounding like Sinatra. But to me he lacks soul, kind of like a Jane Monheit sounding like Ella but lacking the heart and soul of the sound. I respect him for his vocal chops though but I would rather listen to Sinatra, Nat, etc.
  7. Oh yeah it would be very easy to balance it out. The CS4398 I believe is dual differential so should be super easy to transformer balance it out.
  8. Hey that looks pretty decent. Standard DAC chip, known to sound pretty good in some other sources that it has been used, like the meridian 508. Simple design, DAC coupled to some transformers, the stock ones should be pretty decent as well. For the price it might be worth it just to check out. This might be up my alley, I have been looking for a cheap DAC to couple with a SB or some sort of wifi music server to run tunes from the laptop. Thanks for the heads-up!
  9. I believe someone on the DIY thread on HF bareboned it at $1200. Ti's proto with its really nice chassis and I believe he went overboard on some parts probably exceeds that easily.
  10. Same guy that is selling all those HP1000's on audiogon and ebay?
  11. I was thinking you could use them to upgrade a hornet
  12. BASS CAPACITOR Ok, someone explain what a digital capacitor is? Thanks.
  13. The plate caps are different too, black covered rather than the traditional red covering. Looks much better with the black covering.
  14. She has her tongue pierced too - hotness.
  15. Yah fo sho the kucinich chick is mad hot.
  16. Mahir is badass - we should invite him to the next international meet, he does like music and I bet he plays a mean accordion. I love how the peter pan guy is 53 years old and is making a connection between peter pan and jesus christ in the quote above the home page.
  17. That is whom I got my winged C's from as well. Very good guy, those tubes were in their original packaging and hermetically sealed in plastic bags that was typical of svetlana at the time. One of mine went dead within a couple of hours and the seller replaced it, good integrity. As you can see mike the new diodes have those plate caps. I did touch the top of the tube one time before installing the plate cap in the beginning - biiiiigggg mistage. Nice shock of whatever B+ was going through it. And I concur, the HP2 with zana is pretty epic. RS-1 aint shabby either. It helps that in the low impedance the ZD doesn't really drive much voltage but there is a good chunk of current flowing through the 6c33cb's, coupled with their low gain you get a really nice grado amp.
  18. Random - the Jethro Tull DCC is amazing! Thats a good one to play
  19. Thanks for the help guys. At the last meet, the Zana pushed the headphile modded k340's easily. Just a very deep, full bodied sound, like a 650 but with more midrange clarity and presence. Sounded incredibly tight and balanced, what a nice sound. I am a gradohead too and you know how we can be picky about our stuff, I respect the senns but they just don;t do it for me unfortunately.
  20. Hey guys, At the last meet, I really enjoyed the k340's. They sounded great out of various setups, especially the zana. The bass was quite full and deep, I personally did not hear any issues or lack of. It was a headphile modded version though. I would really love to pick up a set. I have no idea though what I should be looking for. I have read about different versions. There seems to be an assortment of mods that can be done to improve performance, which I haven't quite grasped on. Ideally I would love to pick up a used set modded by a reputable user, just need to know what to look for and/or what questions I should be asking. Thanks guys.
  21. cuddle party - is that a euphemism for blue balls?
  22. Nate, Have you revealed the design and circuit topology yet? I am curious to the design of the amp, I remember you mentioning you plan on releasing the schematic but I am not sure if I missed it somewhere.
  23. I think I read some impressions with balanced RS-1's and balanced PS-1's. I believe they were both thumbs up.
  24. Yeah I never thought it looked bad per se, just really practical and utilitarian. It appears that the tubes and transformers are located not by looks but by where they would sound and perform best located. I would love to hear it as I love the sound of a solid tube amp with killer iron. I bet it's heavy, those trannies look menacing.
  25. Nice! Forgot how much of an opera fan you are.
