Well some Schiit arrived today....the Gungnir and Mjolnir stack to be specific. Will post photos and some early thoughts sometime this weekend.

OneCall had an open-box sr5007 for $687 so I went ahead and got that and will order an emotiva xpa-5 for amp duties.

Yeah my lack of patience doesn't help in these sorts of matters. Looks like the marantz sr5007 is pretty much out of stock everywhere. Looks like one this years Onkyo models is going really cheap right now - the TX-NR717 can be had for about $500. Another Onkyo though.......

Thanks for the link Dinny - I spent sometime this morning on the phone w/ Onkyo tech support. Never going to make that mistake again. It does sound like I could get it fixed if I go through them there *might* be a warranty period on the replacement part. Unfortunately the turnaround time on the repair is anywhere from 2 weeks to hell freezing over. I could have a local repair shop do the work I suppose but the next time it fails I'm back in the same situation. Think I may go the route of the Marantz SR5007 or wait till the Emotiva UMC-200 is back in stock.

While I didn't specifically mention balanced only, the fact that the Mjolnir is balanced is what intrigues me the most about it. Anyone else have any direct experience with the amp?

Has anyone here heard Schiit's balanced amp the Mjolnir? Looks interesting and apparently puts out more than enough power to drive any headphone. I'm thinking of starting my headphone rig over from scratch - most likely with the LCD-3 phones.

With Denon the cheapest model they have that offers full pre-outs is $1200. Seems like a waste of money to pay that much for something when I'll be using at most 25% of its functionality.

My Onkyo TX-NR3008 receiver has stopped working correctly. None of the speaker outputs work anymore, nor do the pre-outs. I don't know what the hell happened but I've tried resetting it to factory defaults and also tried updating the firmware. Neither of which helped at all. I'm a bit pissed/annoyed since it was a pretty pricey receiver when I bought it 2-3 years ago and of course it's out of warranty now. So at this point I'm pretty sure I'll get an emotiva xpa-5 for the amp - just have to decide on a surround processor/receiver. Emotiva's UMC200 looks interesting but it won't be back in stock for at least two months. Outlaw has a similar inexpensive processor called the Model 975. My only other option really would be to get a receiver and just use it as a pre/pro which is fine, but most of the lower-end receivers don't seem to have pre-outs. I'd avoid the intel board there's plenty of great options out there from asrock, asus, and gigabyte. Just set yourself a budget and find the best board that meets all your feature requirements. If you really want to be "future-proofing" here get a K series cpu so you can have the unlocked multiplier and overclock the hell out of it.

whoops sorry about that it was a permissions issues, you should be able to see it now.

I added a new theme today, it's called "Uniform" and you can switch to it by clicking the Change Theme link on the bottom left of the page. Let me know how you guys like it. It has several options for background images/color choices which you can see by clicking the "Background Image" icon that's right next to the view new content link near the top right.

Found a temp fix for Infinite Dark theme - posting should work again now.

I have to wait for an updated version of the theme, not much I can do till then.

Hey deepak, try clearing out your browsers cookies. FYI I installed a 3.4.1 update today so hopefully that fixes any of the outstanding issues.

Another new tapatalk update installed, should hopefully fix the issues with not being able to get to all the pages in a thread.
