  1. I ended up going for a 465B that looked to be in much better condition than some of the regular 465s available for a not bad price. Only downside is that it does not come with probes. I'll wait until it gets here to see if the probes that came with my Rigol will work before I go buying more.
  2. Turns out the Eldritch god that lives in my table is more finicky about input voltage. Bought an AVR and have had no issues since then. Until it becomes displeased again I am sure.
  3. I ended up buying a Rigol but I also feel the urge for an analog scope, been eying a Tek 465.
  4. I've personally got a Rigol DS1054Z on my wishlist. It's chineseium definitely and I have literally no idea on longevity but the DIY hacker community seems to love it and I have not come across any cautionary tales against it. As always YMMV
  5. A while back my PS-X7 stopped maintaining platter speed and resulted in a really weird Beck album before I caught it. I put it to the side to troubleshoot for a bit. Now it maintains speed just fine and I live in fear of the Eldritch god of chaos that now lives in my turntable. They prefer Wilco over Beck. Sounds good though.
  6. Hm hm hm hm, I will have to fool around with this. Many thanks!
  7. What regulator are you referring to? I'm not having much success right now finding something suitable. I am attempting to modify the transformer output version to use 45 DHTs and so far its a few pages of hastily scribbled schematics.
  8. Compared to what I normally see, yes.
  9. My SCED035 which I don't think I ever posted but it did get recognition from a fellow watch nerd recently. It's a good understated watch and my daily wear right now. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  10. I was more concerned that the fact that my ground clearance is more than the elevation change your car might see would scare you off.
  11. Offroading is a motorsport. Not a question, a statement. If you disagree with me, go look up "Dakar Support Truck" on youtube. Anyways, my Jeep, no dubbed Pokey after her last outing, is going up on blocks this weekend. 3" lift kit shows up on Monday and shortly after it is installed, 33" tires will be ordered. All for the absolutely beautiful offroading out here. New Mexico may fall short in some aspects, but not the view.
  12. Stupid rims don't have enough space around the lug for a traditional lug extractor. Had to go with a sacrificial socket. Rescue successful
  13. This is a classic example of why you never go offroading alone. Was with three other folks and they gave me a ride home.
  14. Made the mistake of not giving the Jeep a real proper look-over before taking it out for its first bit of dirt today. Missed two things: a. the tires are rotting a bit more than I had previously thought and b. there are some very subtle locking lug nuts on the wheels for which I don't have the key. Made it over all sorts of rocks no problem but took a root at one wrong angle and ripped a 2" gash in the sidewall. Couldn't patch it and couldn't swap the spare. Had to leave it out there for the night since the sun was already setting. Should be an interesting tomorrow. It's at 33.111887,-105.967308 if you want to look.
  15. Thank you Friends. I failed to take Mike's advice to not get any older. And it's Capt Hiccups to you Jeff.
  16. Happy Birthday Uncle Absorbine! Hope your beverage is cold and refreshing.
  17. A bit late but I flew a mission on a Huey yesterday. Naaman, am I cool yet?
  18. No idea what that is but damn, did you hand-solder that? Fuck.
  19. I used a Pace (if I am remembering correctly, it was a MBT250 even) in a past job and I can chime in a third time that it is a darn fine iron.
  20. Thank you everyone and glad to see my neighbors celebrated with me!
  21. Damn those are hot. Semi-related, has anyone tried turning lapis lazuli? I was thinking of trying to get a nice piece with plenty of pyrite in it for my next project.
  22. Rained here today, snowed up in the mountains.
  23. Baked a few pizza and rolls with the leftover dough on the back of the 17" cast iron skillet. Worked really well, make some very good crust. I just have to work on the dough recipe since since mine over-inflated to an astounding degree. More bread than pizza ultimately.
  24. I enjoy the 14k nib. It glides very nicely on the paper and feels softer than the nib on the 2000. Though I personally like the harder nib on my Sailor more.
  25. I bought a Lamy Dialog 3. I always wanted a retractable nib and this one takes the cake in my option. It's a bit thicker than a Vanishing Point but I like the 14k gold nib a ton more and the rotate to extend the nib action is superb. Pics when I remember to stop leaving it at work.
