Genital Pictures....oh, and pens
Nice to hear your thoughts on the 849, Ari. It's been on my hit list for a bit, and I still might by one based on your comments. The F-701 is still a pen I keep on permanent use though. Thursday, I got my Karas Kustoms Ink and I'm still a little mixed on my opinions of it. The machining is clearly beautiful but the fit and finish is a little lacking in terms of what I got vs. what I paid. Not super happy with it at the moment.

Making Japanese curry and I'm 3 beers deep so I didn't forget anything this time.

Which Cooking Are You?
I baked some bread and fucked it up. I learned two lessons: 1) Don't forget the salt when making bread, tastes terrible. 2) Don't bake sober, you are more likely to be confident and forget things.

Head Case Survivalists
I like this idea a lot. Dryer lint works as a readily available substitute for wood shavings. Kept dry in a ziploc, lint works fine as tinder by itself.

Build my own website
My site uses WordPress and I'm using BlueHost for hosting. BlueHost is a bit more expensive but it comes with a plethora of additional services, such as email, subdomains and support specifically for WordPress. My few interactions with the support staff have all been pleasant. My one gripe is that they ask you to pay for however many years of service in one payment. For me, it meant a ~$200 payment, but on the flipside, I don't have anything to worry about for 3 years. WordPress can give you a pre-fab template that looks great and then what I did is poke around here and there in the code to get my site looking the way I wanted it. If you ever get really ambitious, there are guides floating around for building a WP template from scratch. Alternatively, a good friend uses Laughing Squid for hosting and is a big supporter of them. My site if you are so inclined: http://sexyparkas.com/

São Paulo – Brazil August Meet
I have organized meets before and I am ashamed by your superior quantity and quality of both gear and food. I wish I could have been there.

I made soup today.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Yesterday I learned that tonic syrup can go bad. Today I learned that means a morning full of running to bathroom. I have learned so much.

Got my first Vinyl Me release yesterday. Very impressed with it over all. Packaging was secure. it came with the album, a mini poster, a sticker and the cocktail recipe. The album itself was a 2xLP in a delightful if-pepto-bismol-was-green color. The record itself was definitely on the light side but played just fine, no issues with my copy. Anyone else get theirs yet?

Roasted them in the oven. Tossed with oil, salt, and pepper, 30 min at 400F, turned them over halfway through.

Which Cooking Are You?
Not so happy with the results, had some issues with flare-up that I should have anticipated. Still tasty though

Which Cooking Are You?
I've got beer cheddar bread in the oven as my first real attempt at any baking. Then bacon-wrapped sausages chilling at 140F waiting for the grill in a bit. I shall take pictures if I remember to do so before consuming everything.

Cool Kickstarter/Indiegogo Campaigns
As I see it, there are two ways this can end: 1) Like most other Kickstarters, it hits delays, fails to reach goals, and basically shows that despite all the hype and backing, some people just cannot deliver on their promises. Something this publicized, I expect there to be some sort of backlash if that happens. Moreover, I think it would say to the world that this business model of pay some random stranger money for the promise of something later is not the best business model. 2) It goes as planned and I get a hat and some potato salad. I personally think it will reflect on the guy who started this. He made a bold but rather stupid promise and still followed up on it. Stupid as they may be, I still like people like that.

I like potato salad. There's already been some copycats: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/870812803/coleslaw

That's what I did. Even a three-month subscription is iffy if the quality isn't going to be great. I'll get the first one and see how I feel about it.

Ric, my email said my invite would come on the 2nd. Timing is definitely not perfect on a holiday weekend but I agree that communication is always good.

Neither have I, but they did say it was going to be a few weeks.
