ok I ordered a used MCA cd, not sure what I'll get, but its not the remaster, so hopefully it a pretty decent version.

ok, so it looks like the 1990 version is the second best to the hofmann remasters... assuming it is a reissue of the 80's version (not hoffman)...

The later remaster version, are second best to the original or the hoffman 37214?

Looking to Get AJA. Should I get the remaster or the original CD (c. 1990)? The MoFi one is just too expensive on the open market.

Ok, so let me get this straight.... a. The pots and stepped attens suffer from rolled off highs, dead and bleached sound.... b. while the transformers are great, but do not have the ruler flat freq response of the pot or stepped atten... but above in a. you said that resistive volume controls suffer from rolled off highs, but in b. you say they have ruler flat freq response. Can't have both

Our organization used to have HP laptops -- pieces of crap... high failure rates. I just got a lower level Toshiba laptop, seems to work so far -- shitty sound though, battery is only good for two hours tops.

I decided to come home after a half days work, and the DHL guy got there about 5 mins after I did, even though they were going to hold it for me to pick up after 4:00 pm. Anyways, the SACDmods Denon DVD-3930CI is in the house! So I put on the first SACD Norah Jones - come away with me -- fucking mistake! Here voice breaks up all over the first track and others, like the mic is clipping.... I thought oh shit, the player is fucked up...... Then I pop in Groove Note True Audiopohile..... Wow. The detail is incredible... but not bright at all, no harshness whatsoever, still listening... Tons of deep but tight bass, I can hear the scrapings of of the brushes, super quiet marracas I didn't hear before, the sound of strings being plucked.... I will pop in a few more CDs and make some observations

I work on an Air Force Base, and they are super paranoid about boxes these days, let alone employees getting personal deliveries. Actually Matt Anker of SACDmods was burning in my player all last week (while it was installed in his rig...) while he was waiting for my clock to come in. Interestingly, he already has a 3930CI modded up and in his rig. He bought that one off Agon for $850. Good things come to those who wait...
