  1. thanks dusty, I missed this. balanced or single-ended aerius?
  2. what's really frustrating to me is Grado Labs complete silence on the issue. Why can't they release a statement?
  3. oh noes. :'(
  4. Welcome to head-case Tom!
  5. Anyone tried the K340 with velour pads?
  6. true dat. not a huge deal anyway since I'm pleased as punch with my Dynahi. I hate to go all patrick82 on you all, but it really is remarkable the difference that brickwall has had on my system. its made me a lot more content with all my components. besides, my next amp purchase should probably have some tubes up in there anyway. i need more tubes.
  7. interesting! between you and aerius, it sounds like choosing the gain is a crap shoot. \
  8. Yes, at my forum I'll have a team of monkeys constantly editing posts to make the admin (me) look smart and sexy. I sold the cans to laine (riceboy). i just have to copy everything jpak does since he is *the* pizz one squared.
  9. thanks aerius, this is helpful advice, gives me something to chew on. the K340 is a pretty remarkable can. It does classical, jazz, rock, and everything in between with aplomb. Might be worth building a system around.
  10. to expensive, to nice, made me to nervous. also I want to get some speakers or something.
  11. yup, just posted them today.
  12. In all seriousness, I don't really think I listen that loud, but I don't have any kind of SPL meter to give you a real measurement. So, like, maybe kind of loud? My current cans in regular rotation: RS1, W5000, HD650, K340.
  13. okay, so not exactly how much stuff costs, but here is another DIY, or more specifically b22, question. On thrice's b22 group buy page, he says: "You choose a gain of 2, 5 or 8 (remember in balanced mode the gain is effectively doubled. My balanced amp has a gain of two and my low impedance cans get to the 4-5 step on the attenuators; do not move to 5 or 8 unless you primarily use high impedance headphones for a majority of the time)." Lets say I were to be interested in a b22. My problem is my favorite cans impedance run the full spectrum from RS-1 to K340. So how about this: will even a gain of 2 give enough juice to crank up the K340 or HD650? I don't mind if I have to really swing those volume knobs to crank the tunes, I just would hate to limit the performance of my higher impedance cans just to get a bit more pot swing for my RS-1 or W5000. Thanks again! D I Y = C O O L G U Y S
  14. You've got a LOT of gear. Sorry for the OT, I was just checking out your sig.
  15. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=258155 For sale on HF, $2448.
  16. I keep getting the Opus confused with the Opus. The twisted pear one with the resolution audio one. Then their is mr. hollands. geez...
  17. that would bring the magic warmth of tubes to your headphone audio sound.
  18. he'll be coming to mobile to play with the symphony. My buddy does percussion with them, so he can get me comps.
  19. hey JB where you been dude?
  20. grrrr, my "buy" alarm is flashing red... but I don't even need a new amp.
  21. Standard mods + XLR runs around $1250 according to the web site. Interesting! I just noticed that Matt is selling his personal 555es to upgrade to the 3930! He must really be impressed with it.
  22. very cool! eagerly awaiting your impressions.
  23. wood = good. geez when will you learn this stuff hungrych.
  24. Yeah, pretty pricey for a circuit board stuck on some wood. No, I don't know anything about DIY power supplies, or car batteries for that matter. ahm lernin tho.
  25. yup, car battery. speaking of power, I got my brick wall in today, its great! believe it or not, it has almost completely eliminated the ever-present hum on my Bellari. Only when I have no music playing and my pot at max can I just barely hear a tiny bit of hum.
