K340
I know I paid slightly over $200 for these, but they can be had for less, and these are remarkable headphones, at least when powered by the Dynahi! Very alive, and rich, and musical. This can has made me very interested in the higher echelon of electrostats.
Chekhonte, the article said that the percentage of vinyl sales went up while the percentage of CD sales continues to go down, which means that there were still many more CDs sold then vinyl. Still, it shows the vinyl market is growing.
As for hi-rez, DVD-A is dead, and SACD is dead outside of classical. I predict Best Buy will stop carrying CDs almost altogether in 3-5 years. Already now you can only find new releases and greatest hits albums.
yup, my first time. A post on SH led me to the Deceiver box set, and browsing the store led me to the other stuff.
also just ordered the two Genesis Archives box sets, the few albums I don't own yet on CD (Nursery Cryme, We Can't Dance, Trespass), and some more Phil Collins.
So I really enjoyed the K340 last night. I didn't listen to it nearly as loud as previous nights, and the overall result was much more pleasant and balanced. I made the same volume mistake with the W5000, trying to crank it to get bass impact.
that is awesome. i especially love the use of simple dramatic piano music in the second cautionary tale.
Here, this one is how I wish all music could be:

I've never heard the 007, in fact I've never heard a proper electrostat. The closest I've heard to a stat is a K340. I like the K340 though. If the stat is handling the highs, I like the way it does them.
some dimarzio m-paths, and a slew of MFSL cds and SACDs (mccoy tyner, coleman hawkins, megadeth, zappa, allman bros., little feat). also two bill evans sacds.
if I keep buying music like this I'll never get a new source.
