  1. Some progress photos: I'm building the 500V version (hence the missing voltage multiplier parts). Anything special I need to know/do before I try powering these bad boys up tomorrow?
  2. New sale thru Friday: "From now until 11:59PM PST September 30, you can get an unprecedented 20% off your entire order on HDtracks.com! HDtracks will not offer another across the board discount this deep in a private sale this year, so now is the time to get all of the albums you've been waiting to buy in archival, master-quality downloads and complete your collection! Simply use the code hires20 at checkout for a one-time 20% off discount."
  3. I sent Tyll my SR-007/mk2's (SZ3's) on Saturday. He should have them before this weekend.
  4. Jay, I posted the transformer specs from SumR on the main KGSSHV thread Please note that transformer is targeted for a 500V output build. If you are building the standard 450V version, you will probably wanted a little lower voltage at the secondaries (probably 420V instead of 450V). I have the transformers in hand, and I should finish up the power supply this week. I hope to test it this weekend, and I will post how they work.
  5. N3rdling, I bought a (100) of these things from Zhou Fang of DIY Audio for a good price. I am planning to go through and test all of them, and do a rough match. Seeing that we only need (4) of them, I could probably send you a set. Just shoot me a PM if you are interested.
  6. You guys got to stop posting links to new tools! When it comes to cool handy tools, I have little to no self restraint. Needless to say, I have a semi tester and screwdriver on the way...
  7. My boards arrived on Saturday (love how fast USPS shipping is sometimes). I already fired up the soldering iron, and started populating the boards. Big thanks to Lil'Knight and Deepak for making this possible.
  8. The O2's that I am sending to Tyll, are definitely the domestic mk2's. They were purchased in the US, have the black housing, and a SRZ3 serial number. It would be great to compare the SRZ2-xxxx and SRZ2-xxxx models, to see how the subtle changes Stax made impact the measurements.
  9. Perfect. My O2's are the MK2's (or some people call them the MK2.5's) and not the SR-007A. I figured it's going to take Tyll a good couple weeks to get measure the 009's and O2 mk1's. I can send mine along after that. I'm very interested to see how the different O2 makes compare. We need to find someone with the 007A's to send them in to Tyll for measuring, so we'll have the full O2 lineup.
  10. Sounds like the repair on my 007's should finally be finished by sometime next week (still not holding my breath since it's Yamas). It would be nice to listen to them for a couple weeks since I've been without them for the past month. I can probably send them along your way after you've had a chance to measure the SR-009's.
  11. You should throw them in a tester, and see how they measure.
  12. Thanks for the update Deepak. I'm really looking forward to warming up the iron for this build.
  13. It would sure be nice if the counterfeiter's we be nice enough to make parts that least came close to the specs...
  14. Definitely put me down for a K216/J79 GB. You rock sir.
  15. You should put them in the spreadsheet (see first post of this thread). Would be great to have some lambda measurements as well.
  16. I think TMoney already volunteered his 009's for measurement, so you'll be able to see how they measure and not worry about your phones being damaged during shipping.
  17. If I ever get the things back from Yama's, I've got a pair of SR-007 Mk2's you can measure.
  18. Out of curiosity, do you roughly know what the actual transformer secondary current requirement is for the new PS?
  19. My boards showed up today over here on the left coast. Thanks again to the KG's for making this possible!
  20. I sure hope it does. =) The rectified unreg voltage should be somewhere around 630V. Correct me if I am wrong but this should give roughly 10% headroom for the 580V bias branch. I originally was going to spec 475V secondaries. I ran it by KG and he recommended 450V instead. He said 475V would work, but the PS would definitely put out more heat.
  21. For those of you who are planning to build the 500V output version of the KGSSHV, here is the transformer I worked out with SumR. Part #: RC0100 049 1 Specifications: 100VA / 117V primary 2 x 450V (@100mA output ea) secondaries 1 x 30VCT (15V-0-15V) 10VA secondary Core band Static shields I believe you should be able to email SumR with this part number, and he'll know exactly what you are after. Either way, I'd still confirm the specifications with SumR just to be safe. Cost came out to $91/ea for my order. I purchased (4) transformers, so I am not sure if I got a bit of a discount. They said it would take about 2 weeks to fabricate, and probably a week or so to ship. If you are planning to do the standard 450V build, you'll probably want to modify/lower the HV secondaries a bit so the PS will run a bit cooler. Maybe KG or someone else chime in, and give you the target secondary voltage under 100mA load.
  22. I'm planning on using the 3U x 40mm dissipante case for the KGSSHV's I am building. Looks like a nice case and it fits the bill. FYI, I've been talking to SumR about a custom transformer for the KGSSHV 500V version. I think I've got it pretty well sorted out with Richard, and I'll post the part number and specs once its finalized.
  23. No worries Tran, I think I might be able to use these on a couple of stereo amps I have been working on. So its not a total loss. I ended up finding a nice pair of used Omega 2's, and I couldn't justify having both at the moment. Maybe down the road I can, or maybe I'll get a pair of 009's to go with my O2's...
  24. Ouch... I guess I should have paid attention to the rectifiers more before I ordered 25 of them...=( Is the 1200V rating a must? There is also a 1000V/12A STM rectifier as well: STTH-1210D
