  1. It sounds like I'm starting to have the same problem with my 009's that I had with the 007mk1's I once had, which is a break up of SQ in one of the sides. Now with the 007's this problem was caused by a fault in the cable which occurred around 7 years after getting those Earspeakers, and it's the same problem with my 009's because when moving my head this break up was/is happening in the left ear piece, and to confirm it's the cable I moved it with my hand and that break up was/is happening. So like with the 007's, I'll have my 009's sent off to have a new cable fitted, which is why I kept hold of my 009's original headband in case something like this happened. Fortunately I won't be without listening to Earspeakers because I have my 003mk2's.
  2. After advice from John, the size of the Carbon he'll eventually be doing for me will be 17"W x 6"H x 14"D.
  3. I wasn't aware of that place, but I'll be using my local metal engineer ( assuming he'll want the job ) in liaise with John. I also had an idea on how I'd like the faceplate to look with the controls positioned in a certain way, but John sent me a computer drawing of a faceplate with a slightly different controls position that I prefer to the one I did. So by the time John and I have worked out how this Carbon will look, it'll be very much to my liking. Now John did ask me why I wanted the Carbon so big, 17"W x 7"H x 14"D approx, but after I showed him the shelf on my audio rack where it'd be going, he understood why, I also mentioned to John that the width of my Bybee power purifier is also 17". ?
  4. The reason I put " part build " John is because my local engineer will ( hopefully ) be doing the chassis work, obviously you'll be doing the biggest part of this build which I appreciate very much. ? If everything works out, then John will be in liaise with my local metal engineer. The only thing that could be a problem is this engineer who's name is also Dave, runs his business alone, and it doesn't look like he has a website, but the next time I see him I'll ask if he has as email address.
  5. Although I have a Dynalo mk1 that I got from Birgir which I'm very happy with, rather than get a KGSSHV carbon from him, it will be johnwmclean that'll be building one for me, or part building. Now the reason for that is because after several PM's with John, he suggested I asked my local metal engineer to do the faceplate/enclosure, and in doing that I could have the size and look however I liked best. So after giving it some thought I've gone for the size to be 17"Wx 7"H x 14"D, all approx, but the thing I like the most is the idea I had on how the faceplate will look. ( to my liking that is ) Regarding the faceplate, I was going to have titanium used, but after advice on how difficult it is to work with, I'm going with aluminium, although the volume knob will still probably be titanium. i've yet to ask the engineer, so hopefully he'll do what I'm seeking. There is another thing I'd be after, which is no screws showing anywhere other than the top panel, and even there they'll be countersunk. ? P.S. The only downside with this build, is I won't have the spare money to have it done for sometime, but there's no harm in finding out from my local engineer if he'll do what I'll be after. ?
  6. Because of the shilling that goes on over at the other site, it's understandable why some are apprehensive about certain products, which in this case is the Yggy, however I agree with purk, that for the price the Yggy is a steal, and I find SQ wise it better's a £15,000 SACD/DAC, but if still in doubt then audition one.
  7. True John, and I've said before that I'm enjoying the SQ from the Yggy more than I did the K-01, in fact I've also said before the Yggy stopped me from saving for a CH Precision C1. Now the Yggy [ IMO ] is nowhere near the build quality of both the K-01 and C1, but the most important thing is SQ, and to what I recall the Yggy isn't far behind the C1, a £24,000 DAC, I would have to hear the two together to be sure though. One thing is for sure, I'm still pissed off with the amount I lost in selling the K-01.
  8. Exactly my thought, however as Geoff mentioned about his version of the Carbon, having two Stax sockets would spoil the symmetry of that amp, whereas the way John's designed his Carbon having two sockets adds to the aesthetic's, ( IMO ).
  9. The good thing ( IMO ) about having two Stax sockets like on the BHSE and the one John's recently posted, is if two wanted to listen at the same time it can obviously be done, however I have tried this with a 009 and 007, and both produced different volumes with the 009 sounding much louder.
  10. I've seen it for sale on Birgir's website.
  11. I like your post stax fart, but don't know where the Bentley came from and I'm 55, but yes I am bald, however I've had Micro-Scalp-Pigmentation done which gives the look of a full head of hair but shaved. Here's a photo of the back of my head. Now looking at the photo I'm sure it's hard to believe I've no hair growing on a very large area of my head, and that photo was taken before the last session of MSP was done, so the look I now have is more dense at the bottom. In that photo the scabs formed from MSP hadn't exfoliated, so it's look is even a more realistic since that happened.
  12. Two photos of the Panasonic ES-LV65-s 5 blade shaver I recently got. I decided to get this Shaver because I wanted to try something safer for shaving my head, and I couldn't be happier with it because it shaves almost as close as a wet shave but without the chances of nicks. Another thing I got from wet shaving was a shiny head, but with the Panasonic it's a matt look.
  13. I've mentioned the reasons why I'm getting a Carbon to use as well as the BHSE, but another reason is after hearing one of the recent 007mk2's, I plan on getting one of those, or at least I'm going to find out if Stax can do something I've also mentioned. Now if I'd known when getting the K-01 ( 2011 ) what I know now, I would've had the money to get both a Carbon and 007 because I wouldn't have bought that Esoteric, at the time getting that K-01 though I believed the more an audio piece cost the better it should sound, however the Yggy has proved to me just how stupid that belief was. I'm mentioning that because in 2011 the K-01 cost me £15,000, whereas the Yggy that I got several months ago cost me £1850, and I'm enjoying the Yggy more than I did the K-01. P.S. In selling the K-01 I lost a very large amount of what I paid for it, so hopefully others won't make the same mistake as me.
  14. Ended up ordering that Aristaeus several months after getting the BHSE ( 2012 ) because of the way the BHSE made the 009's sound while using the stock Mullards, ( only with certain songs in my collection ) and thought with the Aristaeus being quite a bit less powerful than the BHSE it might solve that problem with those Earspeakers, but as I said I had to cancel that order. Now I am going to be getting another stats amp when I've the spare money, but it's going to be a Carbon because I'm now wanting a solid state.
  15. I ordered an Aristaeus after getting the BHSE, but had to cancel because of financial reasons, definitely is ( IMO ) a beautiful looking amp though.
  16. To what I recall it took about a month getting my 009's from PJ in 2011, but UK customs had them for around 3 weeks, however I think it was early last year when ordering the 003mk2's I received them in less than 2 weeks. So I'd have no worries ordering from PJ again, even if I had to wait longer. ?
  17. Got both my 009 and 003mk2 from PJ and had no problem getting them, and as-well as eventually first getting a KGSSHV Carbon, I also plan on getting another full size Stax Earspeaker that I'd again get from PJ, Now by the time that happens Stax might've come out with a new flagship, but if not then I'd find out if Stax could/would put 007 drivers in a 009, and if so I'd just put another headband on that 009 like I did on mine.
  18. Yeah England are getting as bad as Italy, which I find annoying as fuck, cheating bastards, but unfortunately a lot of teams are now using those tactics. However I've not seen Iceland use those tactics, which is why I hope they do well. Anyway with this being the Stax thread I'll say no more.
  19. Well done Iceland, you play excellent football without the play acting cheating certain other teams do. As for England, they are over paid, over rated arseholes and must be made to take a huge pay cut. I prefer to watch Rugby League than Football, but I do like to watch well played football, so I enjoyed the way Iceland played, with no going down without being touched like most of these so called top players do. Anyway, I very much hope Iceland go on and win the comp.
  20. Happy Birthday Justin.
