  1. That's one of the reasons why I no longer sign in on HF, and haven't done so for sometime. I do occasionally look on that site though to see what crap's been written, also to have a laugh.
  2. Well I once used my 009's with a LL1, and have never been so nervous, simply because getting my 009's plugged in and even more so out was a nightmare.
  3. Well I know nothing about the technical side of audio, and I guess I could try and learn, but I'm only wanting to listen to gear, however I like to think I'm savvy enough to know those that do, and don't, and if I hadn't taken notice of those that do, then I might've ended up getting a Cavalli which in my case would probably have been a LL1, having said that, NO I WOULD NOT have got one because to me it looks nothing special.
  4. Well I'm pleased to say that the mod I did to my 009's hasn't changed the SQ in anyway, what it has done though has made them just as comfortable if not more than with their original headband, but to me has also made them very nice looking Earspeakers.
  5. Yes it was my BHSE that was used along with both astrostar59's KGSSHV's, and to what I recall his KGSSHV's did give the 009's a stronger bass, but that doesn't mean it was a better bass. I suppose if your a bass-head then you'd probably prefer that from the KGSSHV, but for those that prefers a more realistic bass then I found the BHSE gave/gives that, only the 009 was used. The other thing I found between both KGSSHV's and BHSE, was the KGSSHV's gave the 009's a kind of closed sound, something similar to the LCD-XC I once had, whereas with BHSE is a more open airy sound. At the time though I was using either the stock mullards or SED's, and since using the NOS Mullard xf 4's the SQ from the BHSE has gone to another level. That listening session was done sometime ago, so what I've mentioned is only from memory, but after hearing those KGSSHV's it's not an amp I would get, I do however still plan on getting a KGSSHV Carbon when I've the spare money. P.S. Sorry there were two listening sessions, with only one of those KGSSHV's used at the time of each session.
  6. Now I may have asked this before, but if so I can't recall, which is, could 007 drivers be used and work in a 009 ?
  7. Arnaud has written a post [ 8955 ] on HF in their Stax Thread where he wrote Mr manure. Now while I still look on HF, I only do so if I'm wanting a laugh, because a lot what's written there now is a JOKE, but if I'm seeking useful info then I look on HC. Also, I wrote a post on HF several months ago in which I asked a genuine question, and that post was removed, since then I've only done one post on that site, and probably won't do anymore, or at least very few.
  8. I never thought about a double door, but even with the single door, that case was quite expensive.
  9. Here are some photos of the acrylic case I had made for my 009's. I opted for it having a door just so I wouldn't have to keep removing it to get to those Earspeakers. On the back panel are some holes I asked for, those are to try and offer some kind of ventilation.
  10. I'd always believed the more an audio piece cost, the better it should sound, but the Yggy has changed my thought on that.
  11. Because the cover I've enquired about is for my 009's, which is actually a case, I thought it more suited to do a post on this thread rather than the BHSE. I asked the place that already did for me a cover for my BHSE, about one of their cases that has an aluminium frame with acrylic panels fixed into that frame, and they told me one with an aluminium frame would be £250 +, but said they could do an all acrylic case that would be a lot cheaper. So I've asked them to do me one of those but with one of their " Flat Black Bases ".
  12. When I order one for my 009's John, it will be a case with also an hinged door, but unlike the cover that goes over the BHSE, this new case will have the panels fixed into an aluminium frame, it will also have a base panel, so the headphone stand the 009's are on will be in that case at all times, apart from when I clean it. I do cover my 009's with a stax cover, but it's split so needs replacing.
  13. Although imo the BHSE doesn't get hot like some might think ( apart from the tubes ), it does get quite warm, so when it's on power I'll be moving that cover well away from that amp.
  14. I got that cover today, but I'll only put it over the BHSE when that amp's cooled down and not in use.
  15. Yes, I'll remove it when the BHSE's on power, but that cover is to not only cut down on the amount of dust getting on/in that amp, but also give extra protection.
  16. As as can be seen in the photos, I've received the display cover I ordered for my BHSE's amp section, which was to the measurements I asked for. I also asked for part of the back panel to be cut out for cables to the BHSE. Because I'm so impressed with this cover, I'm going to order something similar from the same company for my 009's. For my 009's though that are on a headphone stand, I'll get a cover with a front opening door so I can get to the 009's without having to remove the cover altogether.
  17. Because the BHSE [ IMO ] is a very nice looking amp, covering it with a pillow case was/is stopping from seeing it's beauty. So after seeing it mentioned on this thread, I've just ordered an Acrylic Display Cover to the measurements required. In using a display cover means I'll have to put the BHSE [ amp section only ] on the top shelf of my audio rack, but I was eventually going to be doing that anyway.
  18. I don't believe covering the BHSE is a necessity, but it's just something I choose to do.
  19. The two photos are of the amp section of my BHSE. The first photo is showing a cover over that amp which I put on when not in use, that cover is just a quilted pillow case but does an excellent job at stopping dust from getting on the BHSE. The second photo is to show the gap between the top of the tubes, to the bottom of the top shelf which is just under 4". I find that is ample room for ventilation, but when I eventually get a KGSSHV Carbon I'll be putting that BHSE on the top shelf, and the Carbon will go where the BHSE is.

    Stax L700

I've never heard the L-700, but along with the SR-009 I also have the SR-003 in-ear Earspeaker, and while I find the 003 isn't to the same SQ level as the 009 both driven by the BHSE, that baby Stax sounds [ IMO ] extremely good. So for those that have a problem wearing circumaural headphones, the SR-003 would be a very good alternative, IMO. Having said that, I find the 003 starts to feel uncomfortable after around an hour of use, but this is in-side my ears not the anti-helix.
  21. Although I started losing my hair in my early twenties, it was around my mid forties I decided to start shaving my head. Now while I like the look of my head shaven, I don't like the area where there's no hair growing which is now most of the top. I'm now almost 55 and a couple of months ago I came across something called MSP [ Micro-Scalp-Pigmentation ] which is reckoned to resemble the look of a full head of hair but shaven, and in most of the photos I've seen of those that's had MSP, the results look very realistic. So after a recent consultation at a hair clinic, I'm going to be having MSP done early June which consists of 3 sessions ending early July. After the first and second session is a gap of 14 days. When this MSP is complete I will have to shave my head the rest of my life, but that's something I'll be doing anyway.
  22. Although I've only seen photo's of the SR-X, mk2, and mk3, I wonder if Stax will come out with a new version.
  23. I have a MacMini which is used as a music server to my Yggy, and someone I know also has a MacMini which he also users as a music server, however I believe he's ordered an external power supply to use with his MacMini, and has said he'll let me know the result.
  24. The first photo is of a shaving set I got on the Internet, however when the badger knot came off the original handle, rather than glue it back on that handle, I decided to have a similar handle made to one I already have that was done by a local metals engineer, which both are in the second photo. Those two shaving brushes are on a stand the same engineer did, I asked him to do me that stand because I had a spare piece of black ebony rod used in making my custom razor handles that I've already posted on this thread. The metal on the stand in the first photo is chrome plated, whereas the new stand is solid stainless steel and quite heavy for it's size, so will probably last a very very long time. I've yet to glue that badger knot to the new handle, but when I do I'll be using epoxy resin.
  25. Although I started this C1 thread, it was done so before getting the Yggy. Had I heard the Yggy first, then I wouldn't have done this thread, especially how the Yggy is making both my headphone combos sound after having it on power continuously for almost a week. A few days ago I was still thinking on saving for a C1, but that is now something I won't be doing, simply because the Yggy is giving SQ I'm extremely happy with and more. I'm going back to my original plan in that my next audio piece will be a KGSSHV Carbon, then hope Sennheiser do something similar to the HE-1060 but can be used with both the BHSE and Carbon.
