Feeling drained from my trudge through the rain yesterday. That means I'm not driving to the AAPL store this week, which in turn means I'll be doing my show this Friday (on a fully charged battery.)

Fricken VOTED. It's raining bad metaphors here in scenic western MA. I live in a geographically large (by Masshole standards) but sparsely populated town. In spite of that, everyone and their inbred uncle was on their way to the polling station. I ended up parking half a mile away and trudging my (old, fat, out of shape) ass there and back to vote. I came home soaked and in need of a change of clothes. Taxachusetts isn't even a battleground state. Unless there's a Yankees fan around.

It turns out that of all the points of failure (Macintop, OWC 4 bay external enclosure, elgato thunderbolt dock) it was the ...USB cable I was using between the dock and the enclosure. I switched to a USB 3.0 cable, even though I'm running at 2.0 speeds. The device end of USB 3.0 is a much bigger and more robust connector. Knock on wood, I've had no random disconnects since switching to it. I'm still toying with the idea of a rack mount NAS at some point. The form factor works really for me, seeing as I have like 10 free rack spaces and zero free desk space.

Whomever made that chart has not been drinking the same whiskey I have. Bourbon is the only booze I've consumed that made me abusive toward others. 15 or so years ago a female friend of mine who is a lesbian didn't believe me. She fed me a number of Wild Turkey drinks that weekend and apparently at some point I began belligerently pontificating about "bull dykes." That following Sunday she said "yeah, no more bourbon for you ...ever." This is a rule I have stuck to since then. Scotch, OTOH, is fine. I just become a louder, more emphatic version of myself. I'd still drink it upon occasion, by my digestive system rebells at anything other than the smallest sip. Them's the breaks.

The club we worked in a seedy place, but I really enjoyed talking to him and some of the other elder staff. They'd seen enough insanity and still had appreciation for the music that it was an inspiration for me to put up with as much shit as I did and not go bonkers.
